I don't think one does exist. I understand that the type approval process is very expensive, which makes it unviable for what is essentially a niche product. Darren

i do not know of any type approved 2" receiver.
However I do understand it is possible to get individual 2" receiver approved I understand that there is a tow bar supplier in Halifax who can do individual approval. Please note I do not know the above for fact but is what I have heard. Brendan |

Buying them isn't the issue. It's using them legally for towing that's the problem. Darren

A definate NO GO legally if you use it for towing on the road .....
If it's mainly for a demountable winch why not use an an 'adapted' adjustable Dixon Bate type towbar .... |

I liked the idea of having the same mount front and rear but your idea may work I guess - get a DB adjustable height tow bar on the rear like this Then get some form of fabricated winch mount on a spare slider? I did think however that non type-approved tow-bars were legal on N1 vehicles? That's it, but you could still have the 2" receiver 'set' into the sliding bit so that it would be the same as the front and then switch to standard ball for all other times.
Although you don't have to have a type approved mount it still needs to be legal from the 'form of construction' point of view and 2" receivers are not as I understand it |

I'm only following this thread out of mild curiosity but the way I read that caveat is that the American electric brake set up is not approved here in the UK as are the two ball sizes of hitches. We've come a long way since the 2" ball size was phased out in this country back in the 70's in favour of having a standardised 50mm ball.
