Zinc wash and repowdercoating is the best solution. However I have used Plastikote and find it easy and durable to apply and due to the quick drying time you can apply several coats in a short time. You also get a good finish with limited talent/experience.....

Any body tried plastidip on anything, seems quite popular in the US on car detailing forums (also here on subaru forums). Looks like its used a lot on alloys for a colour change and can be peeled off later if no primer is used
Sounds a bit odd, but also used for tool handles so it must be quite good. Might get a can just for interest. My local powdercoaters are the same, but what they lack in administration skills they make up for in painting. Go visit and dump the bits on their desk....That's what I have to do as I doubt they even know what their 'pooter's' for... In mitigation their computer skills are probably as good as my powdercoating/painting ones! (May need more work done sometime myself)   If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Painting / spray painting is no problem not sure about powder coating though! And I'm also kinda stuffed with welding too |

I have always tried to have parts blasted, hot zinc then powder coated as I find parts like bumpers, a-bars, tow hitches etc last well with this process.
I have a pile of new parts ready to fit on my 130 and intend getting these done before I fit them. Ordered some Plastidip to do exterior handles on my AFN canopy so will post my results next week when I have time to use the product

I'd be interested to hear how that goes as I have a couple of ideas. I think I'll get a can or two and see how well it works. Brother wants to do his scooby wheels and grill so that will give us a chance to try it out.
