don't know whether you should add 2 stroke oil to a TD5 but is really quietens down a Puma engine.
might be worth a try? also i am now convinced that BP Ultimate and 2 stroke make a huge difference.

just a thought
good in a td5 the 2SO. get it remapped Pam, then you'll forget all about the v8!

Could not agree more Pam, a remap widens the rev range, but also makes it so much quieter. A good side effect that I did not expect. Get it too Gary quick Bow down

Thanks for the tip about the 2 stroke oil chaps. Will do some checking up on that.

Will be getting tuned at some point in the not too distant future. Needed to sort the obvious mechanicals out first - fuelling and then exhaust (not only rattles but is also too narrow as its still the V8 one and is probably restricting it a bit).

Cheers,
Pam

I found 300:1 is the magic number for the TD5. I normally put in 165ml for a 50 litre fill up.

Pete.

Just fitted a new TD5 decat pipe as my original down pipe flexi had split all around just being held together by the outer.

Thought it would take 30 mins but the cross member had to come off Big Cry having twin aux fuel tanks made this job a Twisted Evil

Hopefully a drive tomorrow will reveal the annoying tizzing noise gone.

Steve

Just took it for a drive and that rattle/tizzing noise from behind the dash has....not gone Crying or Very sad oh well the down pipe definitely needed changing.

2 stroke oil here too, about a cup full (250ml) dont forget to wash the tea cup after Very Happy good for your fuel pump, injectors.

With everyone polishing their trucks soo much, I felt the need to equalise the balance and get mine dirty!!

Had a few hours spare between breakfast and Sunday dinner so went for a short explore and found this:

Followed shortly by this rutted gloopy tunnel under the islands main motorway!! Just before going into it the missus said "If you get us stuck I am not walking anywhere!!"... Low range, diff lock and a bit of grunt was needed just to be sure Wink

Nothing exotic Thumbs Up

Fixed the FIVE water leaks in the battery compartment Shocked . One gromit missing, 3 corner sections had panel gaps about 1/8" wide by 1" long and the best for last, a 1" by 1/2" gap in the front corner by the gearbox tunnel.

Oh - ordered more Dum Dum (I wonder why !), new headlamp bulbs and Wipac Crystal lights.

Bob 2015 Jaguar XE240 R Sport - goes like ....... !!
2013 Defender 90 CSW - sold
2009 Defender 110 Double Cab - sold
2001 TD5 90 CSW - offroad project - sold to a forum member
