I fitted the pair of rear mudflap reinforcement brackets that I got from Brendan.

First one took ages as I kept stopping to take photos Laughing but the second one was a doddle Thumbs Up John

Since putting the TD5 in we've had doubts about the performance, and have been trying to figure out the cause/s.

After some odd drops in power on a journey on Thursday, fuel starvation was looking the likeliest !

Anyways, today Dave rigged up an oil pressure gauge to check what the fuel pressure was. Hmmm, don't think 20psi is right!
Quick phone call to Pat Smart to check and yep, 20 way too low - should be around 60psi.

Dave got on with detaching various fuel pipes and the pump/sender in the tank, and then bypassed the bits that he thought were the issue (with the help of a jerry can as a fuel tank!) he managed to get the pressure up to 65/70. Replaced the now seemingly well dodgy V8efi sender unit with a 300tdi one we had in the garage, sorted the psi out to 60 or more, put all back together and went off for a drive.

Different vehicle! Transformed! Lots more torque and power through the whole speed / rev range. Much easier and less hard work to drive! Yeyyy! Thumbs Up

Almost felt like driving the V8 again, if it wasn't for the engine clatter and exhaust rattles!

Next job, tomorrow, is fitting a nice shiny stainless steel exhaust. Will stop the rattles and hopefully open the engine up a tad more too.

Getting there, bit by bit!

Just fitted a new TD5 decat pipe as my original down pipe flexi had split all around just being held together by the outer.

Thought it would take 30 mins but the cross member had to come off Big Cry having twin aux fuel tanks made this job a Twisted Evil

Hopefully a drive tomorrow will reveal the annoying tizzing noise gone.

went and collected my new (to me) set of part worns off Andy at AJS4x4. Top bloke and great service Thumbs Up Well worth the 4 hour round trip, then once back sorted the aerial as it had fallen off the back of the stereo and fitted the new rear shock bushes. Very Happy

Just need to sort out a new windscreen now Sad 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone

don't know whether you should add 2 stroke oil to a TD5 but is really quietens down a Puma engine.
might be worth a try? also i am now convinced that BP Ultimate and 2 stroke make a huge difference.

just a thought BM52

Thanks for the tip about the 2 stroke oil chaps. Will do some checking up on that.

Will be getting tuned at some point in the not too distant future. Needed to sort the obvious mechanicals out first - fuelling and then exhaust (not only rattles but is also too narrow as its still the V8 one and is probably restricting it a bit).

Cheers,
Pam

Fitted another rear door gas strut .............. not to mine though, did it for a good mate Thumbs Up

Fitted interior trim panels to the hardtop sides in mine .. needed a bit of 'fine tuning' lol .. not the snug push fit they were advertised as Rolling Eyes Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.
