Errr Yes and No

The standard tray is not wide enough for 1700 so that is the NO bit

The YES bit is that the lips would have to be cut off.

However I think the Gwyn Lewis ones might do it without modification. May I suggest you contact Gwyn and check?

The Devon will take twin Odyssey 1500 at maximum.

Can measure a twin battery in morning if I remember.

have tmax split charge red and yellow optimas ok on long runs but stop and starting 15 times a day in cold weather and running a pump of the yellow top, i find myself having to charge the batteries every 3 days.
during summer I charge very week. but on long trips the system copes well. not sure if this is an optima problem or the cheap split charger.
ill be the one that asks , whats the issue with optimas? Have fun be happy

YES have measured the twin battery tray.

Size is ca. 345 x 255mm with an 18mm upstand.

I think you will find that is the size of the Devon trays as well

thanks Brendan, I have emailed my friends in Oslo to find out about current draw for 12v electric blankets, from what I have seen on the web, 36-50watt, more details to follow. so I may be fine with 1500's ...

I thought Optima batteries were outdated, superceded with a more advanced battery/brand! Have read a couple of threads on this but don't can't remember the make as I would never need them! Will do a search on another forum Confused

Optima is yet another in the same stable as BFG etc as a "must have" thing based on previous reputation going years back which is now no longer warranted with better, cheaper products out there. There are FAR better batteries out there like varta, yuasa, unipart, numax. cranking amps on a defender are not that high, a calcium unipart is perfect for example. Numax too are good, VERY good in fact for running fridges and accessories from.

a fantastic source of really good, simple stuff re batteries and split charges etc is www.adverc.co.uk I've been using these products now for two years. They're robust, don't fail in extreme temps and just..work. plus they are really helpful.
