My turbo harness has no ferrite. Could this have an effect?
I installed a radio at the same time as the problem. |

"My turbo harness has no ferrite"
What is a ferrite? (other than magnetic iron oxide) |

I'm pretty sure my 2.2 has nothing like that .I was playing around at the turbo actuator connector a few weeks back and think I'd have noticed..
Just about all wires in the engine compartment can and will suffer electrical magnetic interference..I see it on the scope loads and it can be a pain. 😫..where they are really trying to avoid and minimise its effect the wires are usually twisted..as in the can network..and I think the injector wires.. I havnt stripped back the turbo actuator wires sheathing to see if they are also twisted.. That's assuming that's what the ferrite core is for...🤔 |

I'm also going to test my motor harness

I've just had a quick look, and while my Italian or whatever isn't great😫🤣
I think this is the turbo actuator connector and it shows the motor power supply wires as a twisted pair..👍 ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Thank you for this diagram.
This explains the ferrite in the repair kit. |

Mine is a 2009 2.4 and has no magnet either.

Hi
Will the ferrite ring make that much of a difference? I'm overseas at the moment so can't check if I have one on my 2.4. Jim |

The ferrite wore through the insulation on mine and caused a failure of the actuator!
![]() Only Land-Rover could achieve this.... |

Hello,
I've had some time recently and I've restarted my defender. I started by deleting the fault. Miracle, no more smoke! A week later, I wanted to run it and the smoke appeared again. No fault in the diagnosis. I took 2 measurements of the sensors, what do you think? The intake pressure does not increase with rpm (test done in neutral). ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Manifold air pressures don't look right..
I'm assuming absoloute is atmospheric plus whatever the boost is.. in one set it's actually lower at 99kpa Your mass air flows still look low to me .. Again I'm assuming the bold figure is just a mean or average over trace time..and while they do rise and fall with accelerator demand the base value at idle is low.. You just have to investigate all possibilities from malfunctioning turbo , exhaust blockages, carboned up manifold which is effecting the map sensor...etc |

me neither. I think they were a retrofit to solve something - but I can't recall what / why. good luck. |
