Thanks all for the help and replies Smile

France 1986 Defender 110 2.5 n/a Diesel SW Baltic Blue
I'm looking to do this mod on my 2024 110. I see on this LR parts website that the clearsight mirror part number LR140339 has been replaced by 530123488 https://parts.landroverparamus.com/oem-par...NDAzMzk%3D

There are a few folks selling it new on ebay in Europe for 550 euros, can anyone confirm that 530123488 is correct?

Cheers

Thanks all. Gap tool arrived and it’s now working. Took me longer to register the tool than it did to make the change.

I got an evoque antenna. I wonder if the defender one has the camera slightly more angled down. Works well though. No more looking at a rear head rest or top of spare wheel.

You know you can adjust the camera up and down with the buttons on the bottom of the mirror? MY23 D250 Defender 110 X-Dynamic SE, Carpathian Grey, 7 Seat, Electric Towbar

Yeah it’s already all way down, it works well I think I’m just used to seeing it on an evoque which is much lower down.

Brilliant instructions I have fitted mine today.

https://www.defender2.net/gallery/albums/u...Camera.jpg

I didn't buy the Land Rover repair Cable LR164584. I bought this cable from Amazon

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C1GVRBGG?ref...asin_title

and the cable from Ebay

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325234838660 Which is about £10

I got a mirror and camera of ebay for around £500.

It took me about 2 hours to complete it.

Re: Retro Fitted Clearsight Mirror Today
Hi @ThunderBob and other US Defender Owners (or other savvy DIY guys) who did the retrofit. I have a few questions are reading the entire threads carefully (hopefully, experience guys don't think I'm another spoonfed newbie... please forgive me)

It looks like parts I need are:
1. LR1403340 (Camera with HomeLink)
2. LR164584 (LR Wire)
3. LR140535 (For US, with Nav, Sirius XM, Radio antenna built in)
4. LR117853 (Camera Cover)
5. Fakra Extension Cable (Female to Female) - 3mm
6. Coding

My questions are:
#3. LR130535. Can you confirm if this is the right part that works with built-in Nav and SAT?
#5. Fakra cable FEMALE to FEMALE seems the crucial part but for 90, what length I do I need to buy? it looks like 3 meters are too long for Defender 90.

Please help me. As I secured the used mirror and a local coder, I'm trying to order everything quickly to join the club. Thanks all world of Defenders in advance!

After studying Marco’s (mmbaf) guide and getting all the required part numbers from Ian (Hairy Dan) I assembled all the required parts and cables. I studied the videos from Powerful UK and decided today was the day. It as an easy project! First I removed the rear view mirror. Always a little scary the first time you do it. But it came off without a hitch. Next I removed the roof lights console, one of the back seat courtesy lights, and finally the rear trim piece at the tailgate so that I could get access to the antenna. I fed the Land Rover repair cable through the light console to the mirror opening (I fed it from the side of the console and it curved over to the mirror opening quite nicely). I then attached the 3 meter aerial extension cable to an electrician’s “fish” tape and sent it to the courtesy light opening from the rear of the vehicle. I pulled the cable out of the courtesy light hole enough to remove the fish tape. I then inserted the fish tape through the roof light console opening towards the courtesy light opening. I attached the extension cable to the fish and then pulled it back to the roof light console. I connected it the Land Rover repair cable. I went back to the rear of the vehicle and began removing the existing antenna. This was the most difficult part of the project for me. There is limited space in which to work and I had an awful time disconnecting the Fakra cables from old antenna. After about 30 minutes fiddling with it, I was finally able to remove the old antenna and replace it with the new Clearsight antenna. Attaching the Fakra cables is a lot easier the disconnecting them! I moved back to the driver’s seat and attached the cables to the mirror and the mirror to the vehicle. The mirror turned on as soon as I connected the cables. I then coiled up the excess cable, secured it with tape and tucked it up in the headliner. There was a lot of excess cable. I probably could have gotten by with a much shorter cable for my 90. I installed the light console, the courtesy light and the trim at the rear of the Defender. Please note you will need to replace the headliner rear clip (LR091317) as it will break when you access the antenna. After putting my tools away and cleaning up, I broke out the GAP tool and changed MultiCAN 711 to SVRM with Homelink After that was completed I programmed the Homelink to my garage door and then I called it a day, Total time 3 hours. Skill level is about a 2 out of 5. Don’t be afraid to do it.

@isugoo Welcome to the forum! LR140535 should work for you. There should be a total of five Fakra cable inputs. All units (to my knowledge) include the Navigation antenna.

You should be able to pick up a used unit through eBay at a reasonable cost. Be sure that it is a North American unit to get the Sirius/XM input.

You are correct 3 meters is a bit too long, 1 meter should be more than adequate. I purchased the 3 meter cable and ended up coiling up the cable and stuffing it above the headliner.
Take your time, don’t force anything. You’ll find the installation pretty easy!

Hi ThunderBob,
Thank you for confirming that 140535 is correct part and Fakra extension cable is good with just 1 meter.

From what I gathered, connection is:
Smart Mirror > Fakra Cable > LR64584 Cable > Camera with the cover.
If I have Fakra cable, do I still need LR64584 cable? It looks like that's just short cable looks just like Fakra cable so I'm not sure if I need that LR64584 cable. Please let me know. Thanks again for welcoming.

@isugoo

If I remember correctly, I had it connected mirror > LR64584 Repair Cable > Fakra cable > camera antenna. You “may” be able to skip purchasing the LR repair cable by installing a Fakra cable with the correct ends. Not being an expert on Fakra connections, I deferred to the cables suggested by @mmbanf (Marco)

Thanks for quick reply.
Most of UK retrofit kit sites have only one cable showing so I think they didn't use it but to be safe, I may need to get it. Thanks for your help!
