As per the link in my earlier post. See below

Ian of IRB developments ( member porny on here) has them for sale on his integrated 316 site. See https://www.integrated316.com/store/p/land...trol-valve

£306 inc vat plus £6 postage... I wonder if a big group buy could facilitate a decent discount.

Really interesting thread. The IRB unit looks fantastic but I have chosen to test first using a new unit from Autodoc. The Fiat / Citroen part shown in the thread. Approx £28 delivered. My own valve is still in good shape after 97000 miles (amazingly) and given the ease of access I will eventually use this cheap part and cross my fingers. Thumbs Up 2015 90 XS Santorini Black

Do you guys do any bleeding after you change the valve? I saw somewhere that it was a 20 mins job, which would indicate a simple unplug the old one/plug the new one Shocked Making my Defender great again. (Or trying to at least xD)

I will note the water bleed advice. Thumbs Up

I have that identical valve, two actually. There are some issues. First, the range of travel is a bit longer than stock. You have to adjust the cable position to either fully close, or fully open. It won't do both. No big deal, it just takes a second to adjust.

Unfortunately the second issue is more problematic. It does fully seal when closed but not when open. This means some coolant is able to bypass the heater core. This gives the classic hot on one side, cold on the other symptom.

So, in summary, not a good choice for replacement.

Here’s the reverse side of the packaging so you can see the part number.

I tried the Impergom valve when the factory one finally failed after 15 years.
The Impergom just behaved for a month and started leaking copiously from the back. Not impressed.
It is now replaced with a genuine Peugeot one (PSA ref 6448P6) and all is well again.

However I would be considering the IRB upgraded one if someone could confirm how progressive the heater control is with it compared to the genuine one which is more just on/off than anything else.

My IRB heater control valve arrived last week. Sadly I haven’t had a chance to fit but it truly is a thing of beauty. It deserves to be hung in the Louvre not hidden under my bonnet!
Cheers Ian. WARNING.
