For those that are curious I've just received a set of BFG KM3 235/85r16s and this is how they compare to my older (turns out 17 years old when I figured out how to read the tyre code!! Shocked ) original KM1s in 265/75r16.

Still waiting on a couple of genuine Sawtooth wheels to turn up and then will get them fitted. Thanks all for your help, I think these will suit my needs.

Awesome. Hope you get on well with them. Cool

If mud is such a problem then a locking diff or two will make a massive difference.

Apologies, somehow I wasn't notified of your replies. No traction control on this TD5 though I know some were spec'd with it. Looks like a big job to do. Locking diffs - definitely will consider a rear locking diff one day for sure.

I had everything fitted yesterday and wow, so happy I made the call to go 235 width. It's a different machine! So much lighter in the steering, quieter (I know, that'll go with time) and less rolling resistance. Feels like a big upgrade compared to the heavy worn 265 km1s. Very happy, the bfg k03s are whisper quiet on road, handle well on gravel and dirt but most importantly they are mud killers and good grip on wet grass. Will see how time goes but very happy.

I though they were KM3s, or did you change your mind?

They certainly look good.

They look good, perform well, and last well. Thumbs Up
(I’m using KM2 now, but would go KM3 in future, maybe even a KM4 by then who knows).

I’d rather they last as long as possible, as it’s not a job you want to go out of your way to have done that often.
Again, the 255/85/R16 is a good size, I prefer them to the 235 width, and no mods really or spacers needed.
