Hi Bro Dinnu, good day to you.
Gonna ask few questions: Is there an oil leak in the turbocharger (as indicated by the red circle in the attached photo)? Click image to enlarge I observed engine oil leaks (as highlighted by the yellow circle in the attached photo). Click image to enlarge I observed some grease forming around the rear wheel, particularly near the hub (where I have a spacer). My question is, could this grease be coming from the rear drum brake area? thank you. |

The first phote, red circled looks dry enough to me.
The 2nd photo, yellow circle looks clean. But I see some hint of corrosion on the aluminum hard pipe, and corrosion is porous so some oil can leak. A small leak from the turbosharger is acceptable as long as you are not loosing too much engine oil. Grease at hub? Perhaps a split dust cap on the drive member? 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Hahaha, it appears clean in the photo because I cleaned it before taking the picture (I forgot to take the photo before cleaning it).
Anyhow, I captured another image (please see the photo), but this is from the other side. I'm not sure where the leaks are coming from. Could it be the blue silicone hose? Click image to enlarge As for the aluminum hard pipe, now I remember it was painted with anti-rust coating, if I'm not mistaken. I can't recall it clearly. For the rear wheel side, please refer to the attached photo. I noticed some grease forming in the area marked with a red circle. The blue circle indicates the spacer. Click image to enlarge |

I would not worry about the oil around the turbo pipes. As long as engine oil level is not dropping too fast or you are getting white smoke.
Regarding the oil around the brake drum and its back plate, most probably is a leaking brake slave cylinder - brake fluid (am I allowed to use the slave word?) as the oil stain is high up. But need investigation and ensure it is not a hub seal - gear oil. Brake fluid and gear oil have different smell. Either way, should investigate at the earliest as that rear corner, brake is ineffective. Its a good idea to replace the shoes once they get contaminated with oil. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Okay, noted for the turbo pipes. So far, the engine oil level is still maintained at a good level.
For the rear wheel side, it's not really oil; it's more like a grease form. Anyway, I will monitor and see how it goes first. Thanks bro. |

Hi Dinnu, just add one more photo of the turbo pipe leaks. I'm not sure if it's bad or just not good.
Click image to enlarge It appears that there is some engine oil in the area marked by the blue circle. Is this the cylinder head area (gasket) - red circle and caused the leaks? or normal? Click image to enlarge thank you. |

There seems to be some leakage within the layers of the turbo hose. Probably it is delaminating and failing.
Yes, that is the head gasket area. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Ok, I will change the hose and see how it goes first.
By the way, for the cylinder head (marked in the RED Circle), do you know the function of the bolt? I checked again just now, and it seems like the leak is coming from the bolt and nut there. thank you. |

If I remember correctly, that bolt holds that valve tappet guide. Unsure if the guide can drop if you take that bolt out. There should be an aluminum washer under the bolt. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Okay, thanks for the information.
I double-checked with a friend in Kelantan, and he mentioned that the bolt cannot be removed because there is a copper part that may fall out. Removing the bolt could lead to the piston breaking. |

Hi Dinnu,
How have you been lately? I hope everything is going well for you. Could you please take a look at the attached picture of the fan blade? It appears to be broken, as shown in the attachment. Is it okay to continue using it? Click image to enlarge Also, please review the attached photo. This photo is not from my TDI 200; I obtained it from another forum. Does it appear to be filled with oil? Click image to enlarge Thank you. |
