Are progressive springs still available? I'm sure 110 sw's used to be fitted with them at one point Darren

AFAIK, most new 110s are fitted with progressive rate springs as standard. e.g. The RKB500300 springs are 270/315/406

Just got this back from a famous west country 4x4 firm.
Hello, We can only offer you heavy duty or raised suspension for your vehicle. There is nothing in our catalogue of parts that will reduce the spring rate of the original springs. Sorry we cannot be more help at this time Regards, Pretty frustrating , not even willing to discuss it any further. This is the third response like this in 24 hrs . I can't be the only person to inquire about this sort of thing. I live in England not the Rift Valley. ADS 90 : The weights are only one deep and are on none slip rubber matting behind the second row. I see what your saying though. Have no idea about the commercial classification...I know I'll lose my warranty if i do this. 110 HT TD5 - 110 XS SW Puma |

Went thru similar discussions with the usual suppliers of suspension. Only Extreme 4x4 got back to me with a 'yes we can , now what do you want'. But a few comments on here were not that complimentary, no idea why.
In the meantime I've had a set of Bilstein B6 fitted (thanks to Gary and Jake at Alive) which has improved the ride movement massively, so while still a firm ride its more controlled and not harsh. After Christmas I'll restart the hunt for the springs again. I'm sure I've seen another firm doing bespoke springs for Defenders and I've an idea of the rate I want (on a 90) based on all the comments off other forums, that and the excessive ( for what I need) rating on the std springs and discrepancy front to rear. I did notice that many talk about fitting police spec springs from discoverys, but with it comes a increase in height, which is not what I'd be after. Stu |

No one ever responded as to who makes the factory shock. Just curious.

Not sure about the factory spring maker ?
From what I've read else where you need to adapt a 110 to take springs for Discovery and Range Rover as they're different diameter. 110 HT TD5 - 110 XS SW Puma |

That's a fair point , it is a long post . Maybe i should have brought a road car like a jag estate car and turned my TD5 into a big boys tonka toy ? Just thought I'd try and shed some light on why people aren't bothered by ride quality. There's enough posts on everything else 110 HT TD5 - 110 XS SW Puma

The title of the thread says shocks.
It's a forum discussion about shocks. If you have no interest in the subject, maybe, duh - don't read it... and at the very least have the courtesy not to troll it... I now see the prejudice you mentioned Fishrider & Honker, I guess this topic is now closed. Nice work. |

Had Land rover progressive springs on my last 110 with Koni Shox and it also had heavy duty roll bars, very smooth ride with very little body roll.
Will be installing again on my current 110 DC once engine and gearbox get sorted. I have always found the genuine Lr springs good and upgrade with a good set of shox. N. |

Changed the springs and dampers on my 2010 110 XS station wagon finding the original setup not ideal for me.
Fitted Bilsteins all around and Land Rover HD springs. NRC6389 both sides at the rear and NRC9448/9 at the front. I have a mantec winch bumper with Warn winch. Vehicle sits level, The ride is firm, but more comfortable and controlled than it was 'out of the box'. Very pleased with the setup and works well on and off road. |
