definitely no need for adjustable shocks, its the springs which affect the ride the most. Ok you can argue the rebound level of the shocks etc but really, its the springs. For a 110 or a 90 I'd have iron man shocks and springs all day long, the C version for a 110, the B version for a 90, and the foam cell shocks to match.

And yes, I was told with mine (by the dealer) that if I ever had suspension issues they wouldn't be covered under warranty, which was fine with me, the standard set up didn't do what i wanted and I was unlikely to have problems with the new set up, which I didn't.

Still haven't gotten around to fitting mine so haven't studied them in detail yet. However, I've just extracted the following from the Koni adjustment manual:

REBOUND ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES

Remove the shock absorber from the vehicle and hold it vertically with the lower eye or pin attachment in a vise. Use clamp plates to prevent damage.

Fully collapse the shock absorber, at the same time turning the dust cap or piston rod slowly to the left (counterclockwise), until it is felt that the cams of the adjusting nut engage in the recesses of the foot valve assembly.

Some shock absorbers include a bump rubber concealed under the dust cover that must be removed prior to adjusting.

The damper may have already been adjusted. Therefore check whether the shock absorber is in the unadjusted position or not by keeping it collapsed and gently turning further to the left counting at the same time the half turns until a stop is felt. Stop turning then and do not use force.

Keeping the shock absorber collapsed, make 1 half turn (180o) to the right (clockwise). In case of prior adjustment add the number of half turns previously found. The total range is about 5 half turns.

Pull the shock absorber out vertically without turning for at least 1 cm to disengage the adjusting mechanism. The dust cap or piston rod may now be turned freely.

Had my 110 serviced yesterday and finally had my Koni's fitted. The ride is much improved - much less harsh over regular lumps and bumps and better body control around corners Thumbs Up Darren

How did you set the rebound? Soft, Medium or Firm?

Assuming you have standard springs how is it with and without weight in the back?

If you had the back laden for a holiday would your setting still be stiff enough?

All set to soft for now, with original standard springs. Without any significant weight in the back, which is its' usual state, it's absolutely fine. Much less harsh over bumps and generally more compliant.

You'll have to wait a few days for an answer to the second part of you question, though. We're going on holiday on Friday and it'll be loaded with bikes and various other 'holiday' stuff and we'll be hanging a large twin axle caravan on the back, which should be a suitable test Shocked

I last had Koni's fitted to a 300tdi Discovery, which was kitted out for overland travel. On that, they were set to soft on the front and hard on the back, which was great when loaded, but quite harsh when empty, although that was with HD springs on the rear. The spring rates and rear axle weight of a 110 is very different form a Discovery, so it's difficult to compare them though. Darren

vancluse, LRA - can you confirm the type of Kon's you're fitting to the 110's? I feel the credit card is getting worried - I think I'll bite the bullet.

Already fitted 110 CSW springs (to my USW) and it has made a small improvement, the Koni's will hopefully add icing to the cake Thumbs Up Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Hi Martin,

Koni 8240-1182spx heavy track for rear 07 puma 110 SW.

Cheapest is flatdog but they haven't any stock
Next best paddocks who have one set left

Heavy Track for me too. I bought two of mine from Defender Bits as I was in the area but, including postage, Paddocks had the best deal at the time. The other two I got for a bargain price via eBay, which I appreciate doesn't help at all Neutral Darren

Heavy tracks here as well. well worth the cost. i still have them set to the soft setting which is fine for my fairly light loads.

But will be off to France for 2 weeks on Friday so will be a bit heavier than normal. BM52

HI i kept my 2006 110 csw on origonal springs but put 2 inch blocks under the front and 1 inch blocks under the back spring plates . this levels the vehicle perfect and a set of pro comp gas shocks . Transformed the ride . cornering and looks . I will be doing exactly the same on my brand new 2012 2.2 110 xs next week .
