Someone with more knowledge than me will correct me if I’m wrong, but if you’ve got the sensors and the lights flash, it sounds like you may have an alarm already. It could just be a BBUS issue (battery backup sounder). I think it can fail after a period of time.

To aid answering your question.
What vehicle do you have ? What year ? Does it have central locking? Depending on year you will have either a 10AS or an ALM unit fitted and potentially a BBUS (Battery Back Up Sounder) fitted. In its standard location the BBUS is fitted behind the nearside front headlight. However for security reasons it may have been relocated.

Ill be interested now to have a look..... just seems odd we have the sensors- and when the door is opened and the lock button on the fob has been pressed all the light start flashing
