Yes, that one. If you pull/push by the connecting rod, be very gentle, as it is only retained by a small plastic clip to the fork. You should have some free movement on the fork. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

If you the clutch fork has play (you can move it in and out a bit) it probably means that the trust bearing is not against the pressure plate. However it is still not a guarantee.

Please also be aware that there are different push rod lengths. https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic77571.html 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Hey Dinnu, my friend suggested I change the top clutch pump. But after testing my car just now, the issue occurred twice again – high biting points. I'll check and consider your approach. Thanks.

Worth checking the video from Britannica restorations. He explains how to adjust the master cylinder rod from about 15min onwards. But nice to watch it all Thumbs Up

An update:

I retrieved my car yesterday. They discovered it was a flexi hose problem (as shown in the attached photo), with some blockage causing the fluid not to return as normal. Anyway, the car seems to be working fine after the test. However, I am still experiencing a squealing sound, similar to a rat sound, and I have no idea where it's coming from. Maybe the long shaft UJ? but already changed the coupling that day. Anyway, see how...

By the way, Bro Dinnu, do you know this https://www.blenddoor.com/product/premium-land-rover/ can fit my TDI 200? just noticed minor leaks from the spill rail...here is the forum about the spill-rail: https://nas-row.com/index.php?threads/200-...-fix.4312/

Because my TDI 200 the rail (as shown in the attached photo) looks a bit different from the forum.

and the leaks as photo attached (red circle).

Good to hear you found the problem to your clutch.

Re the fuel return lines, I think that kit will not have enough tubing for the 200tdi. I would rather get a length of tubing and clips and cut to correct length accordingly.

I will watch out for any Defender in these 2 weeks while in Selangor Wink 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Thanks, Dinnu. Tested it for a few days, and so far, so good. Only the top workshop was able to resolve this issue. Laughing

Ok, I found out that Polyurethane Fuel has been used for it, so I think I will choose this too.

Wah, mine was santorini black colour..haha.. Cool

Hi Bro Dinnu

Do you know if this area (gear stick - please see attached photo-red circle) needs to be greased? I don't know why, but when engaging 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and reverse gears, there's a sound like "kher kher" (something sounding like metal touching metal), causing occasional gear grinding. I am considering upgrading to The Syncro Gearboxes' Slickshift, but I'm not sure if it will improve the situation or not.

And also, for the swivel housing, is the light blue circle for filler plug, and the red circle for level plug? Is there any drain plug? (at bottom?). Please see photo as attached, thank you.

I greased my gear leaver pivot when I was overhauling it. Note that there is also a spring and plastic plunger against the ball pivot to take out the play/rattle.
However you should consider replacing that split gaiter, as dust, dirt, etc in the grease might accelerate wear.

Yes, the plug circled in red is the fill and level plug. When filling, it is better to turn the steering towards the side you are filling so the swivel ball does not block the filling hole. On a 200tdi axle, yes there is a small drain plug at the bottom.

The bolt encircled in blue is the top swivel pin bolt. Do not undo. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Okay, it seems I need to dismantle everything, perform an overhaul, and replace the gaiter (thank you for providing the part number). However, what about the diff lock gear gaiter (which is also broken)?

Okay, noted for the swivel housing. I need to open the drain plug to check whether it contains oil or grease, as I'm not sure what the previous owner used.

Thank you.

When removing the gear stick, put a cloth around it to catch the anti rattle spring and the little plastic plunger. They fit in a hole inside the ball pivot. The plastic fits in last.

The difflock gaiter is FRC6872

Btw, do you have an introduction to your Defender on this forum? I was in KL, and saw a 110 in Glen Marie area. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
