Can anyone spell Keeerrrrrrrchhhhinnnggggggg I know you are right of course, but I was tempted by a Hella alternative.
I get the feeling Hella and Lucas are just old names that are stuck on components these days willy nilly. |

Well, just popped out to do a favour for another Defender owner having issues on his overland trip and noticed that the fuel tank breather hose has perished and split at the joiner I put in last year.
Click image to enlarge A quick trim and it is all sealed again, but I noticed that the old pipe is badly perished for much of its length to the tank. This will need replacing, but hopefully it will last a bit longer as everything needs to come out of the rear to get to the top of the fuel tank, including the dog crates, floor, drawers, etc... Well... There is a new alternator heading our to Miffy tomorrow... It seems that there are a number of age related items failing at the moment. Hey-ho... What do you expect with an aging lady?! |

Ok, one replacement alternator and pump later and we have a lovely +/- 14v charge at all RPMs. Lovely.
Yesterdays replacement Hella unit was putting out 19.3v at 300rpm Yup... That's not quite right. I have also removed the fan for the winter. I do every year. But this year the viscous fan appears to be stuck in the on full blast hurricane position. I suspect that come Easter I will be looking for a replacement. I am 99% certain that the viscous clutch unit is not replaceable in a TD5/TDCI fan unit. Which seems utterly wasteful... |

I began measuring up to fit the roof box onto Miffys roll cage at lunchtime today. It only went as far as a gander with the measuring tape and contacting Safety Devices... But, it has begun...
Bit of photoshoping (actually Affinity Photo'ing) of the box in position. Click image to enlarge Pondering on whether to angle it flat down to the roll cage. No sunroof opening, but less gap... Hmmm..... |

Something completely different yesterday, but sort of a parallel Miffy modification. She has a fabulous TransK9 double dog crate in the back, but the shape of the crate makes it impossible to find an off the shelf mattress for the two crates. So I got them made up by a bloke off Etsy.
Waterproof, wipeable and removable cover with 30mm of comfy green lane and pot hole absorbing foam. I have such lucky dogs Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge What I am really looking forward to is a reduction in the wet bed smell that the previous generic water resistant beds. I also got some made for the TransK9 in the Freelander as well. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Ha will do. The pads had their first mud yesterday But today it is super frosty so hopefully all the mud has turned to concrete.
First decent trip will be I a few weeks when we are heading to costa del Devon. Believe you might be a resident Clay |

Well first mud for the new dog beds and they are already a complete success. Love the wipe clean and the non-pong...
But, I need to put the dirt-defenders and mudflats back on as whoa this is one quick drive down the road and it looks like I have been bombing it around the forestry tracks all morning I haven't by the way... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |
