Central Locking Fuse? 110 Puma 2008
Hi - first time posting so please be gentle. I have a Defender 110 XS Puma 2008 Right Hand Drive. Upon purchasing I reaslised the Central locking wasnt working. I took the door panels off (all doors and rear door) and found broken wires at the pillar. I repaired this and still no joy. I will get a multimeter later today to see if there is a signal - however I wanted to check if there is a fuse I should check?

I started pulling fuses from under the drivers seat (to check) and this messed up my alarm fob (now sorted!) - so hesitant to pull any more without knowing what I am touching. I have the fuse diagram but there are no obvious central locking fuses.

Are there any central locking fuses on the 10AS box or obvious ones under the steering wheel?

All help appreciated

Small update - I tried the altimeter and there is no signal going to the doors (I tried on the rear door and the offside rear door whilst pressing the fob) - does this indicate a fuse or 10as issue? - no doors are being locked/unlocked when I press the fob and I have checked all the wiring in all the rubber gators and door panels. Thanks!

Hi, welcome,

there are no fuses between AS10/ALM and door locking motors.
Given that none of your doors work, I'd check the voltage at the AS10 connector, although it may be fiddly to get there.

Also maybe the previous owner had CDL deactivated in software?

thanks Mac - i was wondering if the previous owner had deactivated - can you reactivate via an OBD scanner? if so any recommendations (on a resonably priced one) would be appreciated.

Interestingly in addition to the broken wires the passenger side central locking actuator was disconnected so am wondering if someone was trying to previously fix it and gave up. I have connected this back up and inspected all the other wires so it could be that somone diactivated via software.

Thanks again - really appreciate the pointers

A Nanocom can do it, and it’s a great diagnostic tool for the Puma 2.4, but will set you back about £380 via group buy on here.

There may be a member close by with one that would be happy help out.

Ps. Worth noting here are two versions of the 10AS, one with central door locking relays, one without. Now your XS should have the central locking from factory, however if the unit went faulty it may have been replaced with one without CDL.

Have a read of this for details https://www.technozen-electronics.co.uk/la...-services/

Fuse 6 and Fuse 7 is where to look.

Could be a few things - blown fuse, broken wiring, replaced 10AS unit without central locking functionality, disabled central locking, faulty 10AS.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Thanks all - i have checked all fuses under the seat and these were all ok. I will check the 10as CL outputs and see where this gets me. Final check would be to see if its been deactivated (or the box was replaced with one that didnt have it)....

Thanks again... much appreciated

Check the orange and pink pair coming out of the 10AS unit - on the green connector they are the pair next to each other in pins 2 and 3.

Obviously this needs to be done with the connector still fitted! You should be able to flick up the flap and get access to the back of the terminals.

With your multimeter in volts mode, with "COM"/GND/black probe to pink and "V"/red probe to orange, you should get a positive voltage pulse when you unlock, and a negative reading when you lock.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Also get the part number off the sticker on the 10AS, we should be able to tell you if it's the central locking version or not.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Hi Martin - only just got round to looking this morning (work got in the way!) - i couldnt quite open the 10AS box (despite taking numerous screws out of the dashboard) - as such have not been able to test. the sticker states: YWC500660, 10AS-433MHZ, 52010501F, 1439140. It also has the Pink and Orange wires you mention (in pins 2 & 3). Do you know if this box supports CL?

Any other tips on how to get access? I took the speaker out but couldnt lift the lid on the 10AS box.

Thanks...
