Ventilation as well I think is also good. 20+ years of being used for work purposes, tip runs, camping trips, rallies etc don't help. 1999 Defender TD5 110

You are right about the ventilation. I suspect she has been a lovely moist warm petri-dish for the last few months Shocked Rolling with laughter

Nice. When I get a good dry day I like to remove the footwell mats and rear seat footwell mats and give them an airing. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Yup good plan. I think it is almost time to stick the dehydrating packs back into the vehicle as well before winter hits.

Who's the biggest idiot in the group???
...I am... Rolling with laughter

Took the dogs up to the top of the Wayfarer this evening for a walk. Nothing to do with having Miffy back up and running again Rolling Eyes

Goodness those ATBs are excellent on terrain that is not tarmac. It proved challenging to get any wheel spin at all, the only time was reversing up a slope turning into a cross-axle in low not locked and with a wheel in the air... Whistle Not a proper test but a good first try.

It is true what the advert says though, it is not a locker and when traction is lost all comes to a stop. But it does not take much traction for the ATB to begin working again. It is quite a subtle but predictable device. I am impressed.

I did have one slight issue... Rolling Eyes What a prat Rolling Eyes I forgot to put the radiator fan back on and with very little air flow the coolant temps spiked a little higher than I would normally like. Turned into the wind and it plummeted again.

It did make me wonder whether the ATBs might stress or work the engine a little more than open diffs. Not quite sure how, but it is odd that the engine got quite as hot as it did do. Or it might just have been the excitement of getting onto a green lane. It was a weird situation where there was a strong tail wind and a slow long technical drive to the top, perhaps that was enough. The internal heater was working beautifully though... Toasty...

Anyway... the fan is back on again.

Well… we all make mistakes and it’s hardly surprising given the volume of work you’ve got through Mr. Green Bow down

Glad you are back enjoying your favourite slippers that don’t slip Thumbs Up

Wheels for a dark blue Defender - Choices...
A bit of a wondering post this evening over dinner.

Miffy's boost alloy wheels have all but lost their paint. They are her original wheels so do not owe me anything at all.

So this evening I popped out and gave the old girl a wash and removed the roof rack and awning, but the real purpose was to take a photo and compile this thread.

Which wheels and/or colour would you put onto an Oslo blue Defender?

Miffy as she is now

As you can see I like the standard Land Rover wheels. I quite like the classic steel wheels in white, oddly. Didn't think I would.

What do you think?
