Finally got around to sorting out the rear access hatch and fixed the problem fixings, it's all good now at long last
Click image to enlarge Blasted and powder coated the rear seat brackets as the factory finish was very poor. Click image to enlarge The wiring is still spaghetti like, still have to configure/wire/integrate the following GPS Speed sensor Flappy paddle controllers Button shifter Integration of TPMS into the cluster programmable messages Click image to enlarge Have fitted and wired the Optimill extended mirror arms with built in puddle lights and heated mirrors, Really like these think they look great with the Croytec hinges with build in grease nipples. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Got a few bits from the paint shop, the black parts have been resprayed Santorini black to match bonnet, roof and back door. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I wasnt 100% sure about painting the engine cover body colour, but think I'll keep it Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge and finally the magnetic remote charger socket is fitted and working Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Clayton, what a fantastic Idea and I could paint them Santorini black as well, will look great, thanks for the suggestion will be doing that. Anyone with any idea about the best way to paint the lettering, as I 've tried to template it but results were not great . Update - Updated the colour on the lettering and it looks much better, thanks Click image to enlarge also been trying to figure out the best way the insulate the tunnel cover, decided to give automotive liquid regid foam a go, really quite pleased with the outcome closed cell, hard and totally waterproof. mix these two together 1:1 Click image to enlarge start with this Click image to enlarge end with this Click image to enlarge Very cheap (£10) and very effective |

Clayton,
Really appreciate your comment, I think the result is sooo much better, thank you, here is the finished article with black base and Orange lettering, hope you like it... Click image to enlarge I've finally got the parts back from the machine shop to finish the paddles shifters and time to see if my ideas and measurements have worked out.... So here is the slip ring and machined Optimil boss Click image to enlarge Here it is fitted to the steering column as a trial.. Click image to enlarge Now for the big question, will it fit with the cowl in place Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge well, I'm not sure how that happened but it all seems to fit and is incredibly tight... NO time just yet for celebrations as I'm not sure that the shifter will work with the T87a TCM, one so called expert told me that the tap shift was wired into pin 07, after much searching it would appear that the T87a uses pin 39 for tap shift, Thanks to Dan from Pace Automotive, who made me some pin tails I'm about to find out over the next couple of days, fingers crossed All the way along with this project I've tried to do everything in order, but Ive finally weakened and just had to see how the Transcal rear seats look, I'm going to have to take them out soon but think they look fab Click image to enlarge even the work on the backs and underneath is excellent Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Sorry I should have cleaned them first, but got a bit over excited Also got the HP Tuners dongle so I can do my own tuning of the Engine/gearbox (what could possibly go wrong ) Click image to enlarge Thats it for now, I plan to drive it for the first time this weekend so wish me luck, more to follow and thanks for your support and comments they really do help. |

Awesome, looks spot on with all the detail that went into it, just meant to be there
Those seats look great as well and as you said, the detail is very nice all over. Many fingers crossed for you on your first run 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |

Good news... the slip ring and paddle shifter works and is now fully installed and wired, phew what a relief...
Starting prepping for a drive to the body shop this weekend, everything installed and working in the center console. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge short update but excitement levels are high. Only issue I have is that moving from drive to park sounds like I'm grinding gears(horrible sound) hoping will go when driven, also got a squeak somewhere in the aux drive, which needs sorting, however quite liking the symphony between the exhaust the squeak and the grinding gears... |

Once again super high qaulity work. Could your gear noise be the transfer high/low actuator not fully selecting gears? The rebuilt LT230's can be a bit stiff on the detent until they have bedded in. Also you should have two retaining angles on the back mounting face of the seatbox to hold the access covers.

Hi Linds, super helpful as always thanks , I've lost the retaining angle brackets (possible in my workshop somewhere, not surprising how tidy it is ) so need to source some from somewhere, was going to ask YRM if they do them as I know they do a complete kit.

not totally blown away by the new seats, can't quite put my finger on it, perhaps the colour match is a little off or may have been better with orange stitching...
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Any observations or help much appreciated |
