Air con dash removal
Hi all

I need to remove the air con dash from my TD5. I can see two screws at each side plus one in the middle behind the gear stick.

Are there any others?

There are the 2 screws either side of the AC unit and the big one in the centre. That is it.

It is best to remove the centre fuse box cover first. For extra space remove the gear stick. Lower the AC unit slowly as you will have to unplug it from the main loom in the fuse box.

Thanks for the help guys.

I was removing it so that I could get to the 10AS unit behind the front drivers side lower speaker. Luckily I didn’t disconnect it from the A/C system as to get to the screws of the 10AS you need hands the size of a 3 year olds.

If you ever need to remove the 10AS unit the easy way is to undo the 4 screws holding the front of the instrument binnacle on and it sits on the bulkhead just behind. You will need a long shaft or flexible shaft Phillips screw driver and once the binnacle face has been moved to one side it really is a 5 minute job…..

Indeed, there is nothing behind the lower dash, except the wiper motor on the passenger side. But that part of the lower dash is removeable on its own. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Dinnu, yes the small panel on the lower passenger side to make access easier for the wiper motor. I guess that the folk who positioned the 10AS module assumed that it would never have to be repaired or replaced?
