Mirror Clearsight retrofit
Hi everyone,
I decided to do this retrofit, I was lucky and bought used spare parts, new ones would have cost a lot of money, about 1000 euros for the mirror (SMRV smart view rear mirror), 300 euros for the antenna, 150 euros for the antenna cover.
the power harness to the mirror should be identical, no modifications, we just need to add a video coaxial cable, from the green antenna connector, to the mirror (black connector).
I ordered a camera cable repair kit, which from the diagram looks like the correct one, let's see what I get.......
I will run the coaxial cable with a guide from the back to the front, under the roof.
once this is done, only the antenna assembly and coding remain.
when I have the spare parts at home, more photos for the procedure, I'll keep you updated.

Hi Marco,

really interested in your experience with this retrofit, I starting to follow some part on ebay...

In fact... do you have a picture of connector in the mirror? I know that in antenna is a green Fakra but not sure in mirror side...

Cheers

Oscar

hi oscars,
I'll give you what I found, it looks like a normal black coaxial fakra connector, I ordered the cable repair kit from LR, of which there is no photo, when it arrives I will publish the images of what arrives.

Cheers

Marco

today the main spare parts arrived, mirror and antenna, I await the repair wiring from LR.
on the photo you can clearly see the two video signal connectors, it is a harness that carries both the video signal and power supply (poc), therefore no power supply to the antenna.

Hi everyone,
retrofit successful!
i ordered a genuine land rover repair cable, LR164584, then i ordered a blue universal connector adapter fakra coaxial cable.
the land rover cable has a green connector, which connects to the antenna, and a purple connector, this is an interconnection, to this purple I connected the universal extension which then connects to the black connector on the mirror.
Total I spent 50 euros of wiring.
installation procedure, I have published all the photos, phase 1, disassembly of the rear view mirror, disassembly of the roof lights console, disassembly of the rear side roof light.
phase 2, I passed the coaxial cable from the mirror opening to the lights console compartment, (this is a bit difficult), then from the lights console compartment, to the rear side light, and from this to the rear part under the antenna, (the latter very easy parts).
I referred to a video by Simon PFUK, whom I thank.
step 3, I disassembled the two antenna bolts, disconnected connectors, installed new antenna and connected new cable to green connector.
finally after closing everything, I did the coding thanks to the Gap Tool,
MultiCAN-711 Interior Mirror Variant
IRVM
changed to SVRM.
Only this programming, and voilà the game is done, I would say extremely simple.

Great job Marco Bow down It's a modification that I would love to do. Am I right that you managed to pick the parts up second hand? Also the repair lead that you got, when you fed it through the roof, do you have the panoramic roof or just the plain one? Cheers Ian

hi Jan, Thanks 👍, I found the used spare parts, I got a great deal, the wiring was new and relatively cheap, I easily passed the wiring without a sunroof, but as you can see from the photograph, in any case there are lateral spaces easy to walk.

it is a job that is completed in two hours

Cheers

Marco

Awesome retrofit!

Would be interesting to do it, but does it by any chance void the warranty ? 2014 Defender LXV

Fantastic job and wonderful post!! I'm ordering parts this week. One Q: I have a sun roof, did the cable come with plenty of slack? Wondering how much of a pain it will be to route it if it is tight and short. Thanks and well done.

thanks for the approval, Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
don't worry, it's easy to pass the wiring from the console (glasses holder) to the antenna.
follow the video I posted by the kind Simon of PF.
They have a car with a sunroof.
It is more difficult to pass the cable in 20 cm, from the console to the mirror support....

Cheers

Marco
