200Tdi Crank End Float
Need Advice.

Before removing the crankshaft, I measured .004 of end float. Specs I got out of the FSM says I should have from .002 to .006, so .004 is right in the middle, perfect.

Installed new standard .025 thrust washers from Turner with the OEM spec crank and now I see no float at all. The crank rotates smoothly with the main caps torqued to 98 lb ft.

Do I go back to the old thrust washers or will the new one's "lap" in during break-in?

These are the washers that came out of the engine.

What do you mean by "standard .025"

It is either standard or oversize I think? Although 0.025 is quite big, unless they are 0.0025 oversized.

When I was rebuilding my 19J, I tested 0.0025 oversized, and same result, no endfloat. So I installed the standard ones. My originals where also in very good condition with 128k odd miles and a lot of clutch use. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
