Help with 200tdi clutch creaking
Hi all,
I have an increasingly concerning creak when releasing the clutch pedal on my 200tdi. Clutch was changed 6 years ago / 20,000 miles ago.

It creaks every time you release the clutch pedal (not when you push it down) and it is becoming louder. Happens on every gear change / when setting off but there doesn't seem to be any noticeable issue with the clutch itself. Sounds as if the noise is coming from inside the bellhousing, which sounds expensive.

Video here:

Any ideas please? It's not my knee creaking before anyone suggests that. Bow down BORG - Bucks & Oxon 4x4 Response Group

I did have a search but the posts seem to be for Td5 and Pumas, unless you have found anything I haven't? Question BORG - Bucks & Oxon 4x4 Response Group

I am assuming the creaking is from the pedal box, which design is practically unaltered from 1970s (possibly even earlier) till 2016. There are many posts how to lubricate the pedal shafts.

If it is the fork, which frankly speaking I doubt as mine, when it punctured through, it went with absolutely no pre notice, it would be an engine or gearbox out. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Pedal might just need a bit of oiling. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Unfortunately oiling the pedal did nothing and the noise is indeed from inside the bellhousing.
Time to get it booked in to a Land Rover specialist... BORG - Bucks & Oxon 4x4 Response Group

Clutch fork perhaps, something that Pumas donโ€™t have.

But isnโ€™t the slave external to the trans on a TDI?
Where as the Puma is internal, which is worse maintenance wise as the transmission needs to come out.
But the clutch fork isnโ€™t present, which is problematic.

I am presuming the clutch fork is internal though on TDi $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Some people change the fork for a stronger version. I never had bother with the standard version but some regard it as a weak link in the chain. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Iโ€™ve heard of that, Iโ€™d assume that would be a good upgrade with a clutch change but not specifically on its own. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Having listened to your video the noise does seem pedal related, but maybe sitting in the cab allows you to place it differently 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
