Td5 2003 starting issue
It has always started first time UNTIL this morning when it would not!

The battery is charged and when the ignition is turned there is one click and nothing else, it has bump started.

My son took it to help in the village and left it running while dropping something off, he said it spluttered and then stopped.

Again the key turns and just a click, bump started to get it home.

Hopefully you guys point me to solenoid or starter or ….

Look forward to some help to solve the issue. Many thanks in advance.

It sounds like the solenoid on the starter.

If so you can rebuild solenoid, get stater off and get it rebuilt, or fit new starter.

Check the grounding points and battery clamps are tight and clean, you’d be surprised how common these issues are especially the transmission connection and it’s not always the Starter.

Worth checking just in case first.

So I have inspected earthing and undone and cleaned terminals on motor and nothing.

Removed last night and here are photos inside solenoid with signs of wear ….

I fitted this kit about 4 years ago, no problems since. There is a bolt that is a pain in the backside to get out, other that that, not a bad job.

Cheers, fitted the refurb kit and the click is way better. Sadly done a bench test and the cog shoots out but doesn’t spin Big Cry
