Anti roll bar installation
Hi all,

Just installing some britpart front and rear nti-roll-bars on my 110 and got a coiuple of concerns

1). images rear_arb_[235] show the current setup ( before tightening anything up). Main concert is the horizontal bit of the ARB that presses against the fuel tank cover. If you look at the chassi mount "U" brackets, there's a fairly large gap to get rid off by tightening up the bracket bolts. If i torque them up to the ricgt seting, should I be concerned about how close the arb gets to the tank cover

2). images front_arb_[12] are of the fromt ARB. The poly bushes used are britpart as supplied with the kit. .... I'm assuming that the holes in the bush along the bottom are there to allow bush compression , but does seem a lot of bush to compress ...

This is mine rear ARB if it helps.(TD5 110)
The gap will closed up as you tighten up the bolts. From memory when I did mine (standard bushes) I did the bolts up in an even fashion to close the gap up.

ok thanks, looks like youve got more room between the ARB and the fuel tank cover. Just need a couple more nuts then ill tighten things down and see what happens Santa - 1977 Series 3 - new chassis, tub, disc brakes,SU Carb

Alex,

You dont have a suspension lift on yours do you? The higher the rear suspension, the more rotated the rear ARB will be and the closer it will be to the tank cradle.

Nope bog standard (at moment) when it comes to suspension. Uprated normal height springs and Koni shocks in the pipeline Santa - 1977 Series 3 - new chassis, tub, disc brakes,SU Carb

Your front one is incorrectly installed anyway. At the front, the ARB end of the drop links should be the top, the axle end of the drop link the bottom (The front ARB should be above the track rod). For the rear ARB it is the other way round.

Looks like you've fitted the front ARB drop links below instead of above the mountings. lf it makes you feel any better, l did exactly the same when l installed mine.

I also had the same issue with the rear ARB touching the fuel tank cover. Eventually l binned the Britpart and fitted a genuine Land Rover rear ARB and that was fine, didn't touch the cover.

Many thanks everyone, much appreciated . Help i get from this list is just what I need. ok can fix the front.

All i can say is a picture would have been worth 1000 words ... pity britpart didnt put an in their fitting instructions !

sadly, re the rear, unless done sonething stupid (again) even the LR part is too near the fuel tank cover, there is about 3mm between the bar and it. if the bar twists then its going to push against the fuel tank

Hi Johm.
Quick question. you've got loads of space between tank and ARB but looks as if you don't have the fuyel tank cover there. Is that the case?

It's easy to make some spacers to fit between the rear bushes and their mounting brackets to drop the bar away from the tank.

For the record my 2007 110 was identical to John's (with the rather feeble and rust-prone LR tank guard) and had similar clearance to that in the photo. I subsequently fitted a YRM alloy tank guard (infinitely better than the original) and that fits with clearance too.

I'm not sure why yours is so different, but anything is possible with Britpart.

This is what I did. I found that, when the car was more than lightly loaded, the standard ARB would foul the tank guard. I just got some bits of 10mm alu and cut them to shape - easy enough with the tools I have. If they ever need replacing I could do them in something else but a couple of years in they're fine. Donald

Course if I'd looked at the LRWorkshop site the diag shows the correct way to mount the ARB Sad
