Ireland 1989 Defender 90 V8 Petrol CSW Auto Firenze Red
Brake Bias Valve connection
Hi Folks

I have a 90 with rear disc brakes and no ABS, anyone know how i connect this up. also i have seen pictures of the valve running parallel with say the chassis and others with it 90Deg to chassis which is it Rolling Eyes

As for the placement it is usually found on top of the chassis infront of the drivers side seat box. Parallel or perpendicular it does not matter as long as it is secure and out of the way.

I take it you are converting from drum brakes to disc braked rear axle then?

Ah, now. I don't mean to be contrary on purpose, but I think that fella needs to be fitted to the front of the drivers footwell, horizontally.

There's another (earlier?) thing that sits on the chassis leg, driver's side.

You are not wrong Don, I was thinking of the earlier bias values.

This one does have to be level (horizontal) but it can still be found either on top of the chassis in front of the seat box (footwell) or to the side of the chassis. It depends on the era of Defender and type of Defender (90, 110 or 130). When I was looking for a brake line kit for Miffy I had to go through all the permutations with the seller to make sure I had the right kit.

This is the later biasing valve the earlier one was a weird triangular affair that was located between the chassis rails under a body mount.
