Pre-made Power Cables
Hello All

Some 'Electrickery' advice please...

I am looking to source some Pre-made 'Battery Power Cables' for a 'modification'
I have done this before sourcing...

Car Battery Power Cable / Starting Motor Lead
X1 Pre-made 12'' (305mm) Red Insulation Covered Multi-Copper Strand / 50mm2 / 345 Amp
Cable supplied with Crimped Spade End Terminals / 8mm holes.
X1 (as above) but at 18'' (460mm)

First Question...
Has anyone sourced something similar and can recommend a (potential) good Supplier... Question
(my original source appears to not be trading now...)

Second Question...
Can someone confirm the Specification (Rating Value) of OEM Battery to Starter Cable... Question

50mm2 is equivalent to 1 AWG (American Wire Gauge)

0/1 - commonly referred to as 'zero gauge' is 55mm2. This is a common size used in (big power) car audio installations.

Your local car audio shop is likely to stock it on a roll and be able to sell to you by the meter, and will also likely stock the terminals you're after.

Back in the (non audio) automtove world, I expect a lot of the usual wiring places stock these types of cable. I'm thinking of companies such as vehicle wiring products and polevolt etc.

Thank you jpboost

It looks like there's routes through Amazon / E-Bay also.
A good on-line source / experience would be good to hear... SKIP

I can see the appeal of getting something made up and there are companies on eBay that can do so. I'd strongly recommend buying a hydraulic crimping tool and doing it yourself, though. I bought one for around £20 when I built my split charge system and found it very easy to do, with a professional looking finish.

Happy to make you something up if you wanted?

Think I have all the terminals but would have to get the cable.

Cheers,

Gentlemen... Thumbs Up

LRA If this was a regular thing (or even occasional) I need little encouragement Shocked
to buy another tool for the workshop... minimal money really, installing a split charge set up would easily qualify...

What would also add to the 'make-it-up-yourself' argument... is that in my world I would want
every wiring loom / cable 10% longer than supplied, so 'better to work with' / cable management would win out.

I'm fairly sure that what i've done on my 90 with a Security Layer, that has worked faultlessly now
for 8 years and is used every time the engine is switched off, I'm going to repeat on our 'new' 110

So thank you once again for your help and the kind offer rallysteve
I'll source on-line this time. SKIP
