Strange red light
This is really puzzling me.
When I unlock the defender and don’t start to the engine for say more than a minute, this red light remains on the dashboard throughout my drive.
Anyone have this problem or know why this happens?
This light is normally the one that flashes when the defender is locked to confirm it is armed.

The fob battery replacement procedure is needed if you have the old style fobs. If you have a late 2.2 Puma with the new fobs, which have the chrome strip on the side, you can just replace the battery without the need to follow the procedure highlighted above.

Note some older pumas have the new type fobs if they have had an alarm ECU replacement.

I'm not sure that it is actually needed even on the older fobs. With my 2007 TDCi I changed the fob batteries several times before I even knew of the procedure by simply popping a new battery in the fob (in the house or in my office, well away from the vehicle) and everything worked without a hitch. It is entirely possible that I was just extremely lucky, of course.

You never know, but someone in LR who wrote the owners manual may have had a very dry sense of humour, put an unneeded random process in it for fob battery change, and is smirking every day at the thought of people like me following it. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter .

Yep me too, on two defenders. All worked ok.
