tunnel getting hot on long journeys
Hi all just new to the site had my defender 110 puma for 1 year now. The shaft in the transfer box went last year so had a new Ashcroft uprated one fitted. Have done about 10000 mile now and just wanted to know does the inside of the tunnel get hot on long journeys??

For sure It does on the Puma’s 2007 onwards, you will notice the metal parts of the handbrake lever is very hot and the metal seat rails connected to the driver seatbox get very hot on long journeys.

There are a few topics on here about it.

It’s the flow of heat from engine, gearbox and exhaust. If you open the driver window it’s significantly worse as the airflow draws heat upwards across your legs and out the window. If you keep the driver window closed but open the passenger window you will notice the handbrake lever , seat mounts, seat box etc remain at a much lower temperature. Give it a try, it’s another one of those quirky ways to drive a defender Very Happy

yep gets bloody hot especially when towing on a hot day

not very enjoyable if AC isn't working!

Im thinking of putting insulation down on the trans tunnel and floor to reflect some of it away 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)
