Converting 2.4 TDCi to 'normal' oil filter?
Has anybody done this - never been a fan of the plastic filter housings myself.

eBay seller is listing this (no affiliation), any thoughts?.

I'm not a great fan of the standard filter myself but after 10 years I suppose I'm used to it now. How much does the conversion cost?

Scotland 2010 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Tamar Blue
My 2.4 has a spin on metal filter since I replaced with a new bare engine after engine failure.

Both oil filters seem fine was actually easier for me with the plastic cup one as just bought the 2.4 service kit from advancedfactors but tend to just buy everything seperate now

Maybe ford decided the spin on were better, I think the 2.2 defenders use metal ones??

Yep, my replacement engine also came with the newer filter used on the 2.2. WARNING.

i have a 2.4, 2011 that had the oil cooler replaced. LR replaced it with the later 2.2 cooler and subsequent metal filter as above. Cheers

I would be a little cautious about buying that Ebay unit shown here.

If this is a cheap unbranded copy of the Ford product I would worry about the quality of the cooler. if that lets water into your engine, or oil into your coolant it's gonna spoil your day.

Yes we do recpacment in many Puma because you can choise a biger metal oil filter

Ford decided in favor of the plastic ones like Transit (for environmental questions, waste reduction)

Tata reviewed this issue (like some others) and turned back time ...

Not all 2.2s have the metal filter, my late 2013 2.2 puma has the plastic one. I don’t think I’m helping the environment though as I change my filter every 6k miles or 6 months, whichever sooner, and over the last two years I’ve only covered 4k miles and 2k miles respectively.
