Well unfortunately one of the mechanics is self-iso currently so that doesn't help things but looking at mid/late Sept now which is fine by me
I honestly can't remember what exactly was applied, I'm totally useless I know. I just left it up to the experts at the blasters/galvanisers to decide, but I'll find out for you this week. Pretty sure it was not dipped but that doesn't answer much Thanks Clayton!! Pics as promised, albeit rather late cause of work... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Small amount of pitting on the rear crossmember and what you can see on the outer face of the outriggers, other than that the rest is just dust from transit. Also, please excuse the state of their floor - they're rather embarrassed by it, they think it makes them look like a sloppy outfit which they couldn't be further from - it's getting repainted soon! So I have had several deliveries this week...
Been thinking plenty about engine monitoring and how the Cummins being entirely devoid of electronics will require mechanical gauges or electronic sending units. So the fist few gauges that I've purchased for now (holy they are expensive) are from Smiths Classic Magnolia line. Click image to enlarge(Turbo boost pressure - yes I know, it's a diesel and it wont make -ve pressure, it's from a classic mini) Click image to enlarge(Oil Pressure and Water Temperature) The boost pressure gauge (no longer manufactured ) is a stepper motor and will require an electrical boost pressure sender (this one w/ 1/4" male NPT) and will sit in a Raptor Engineering Puma Dash Pod along with 3 other 52 mm dia. gauges from Smiths (thinking fuel, volts, and ammeter, all magnolia also). Click image to enlarge I suspect I will eventually, once financially recovered, retrim this excluding the brushed face, in a Harris tweed previously shown. The temp/pressure gauge is a big boy and I have a problem. It wont bloody well fit in the raptor dash... Click image to enlarge(the bend protected pipe is the limiting factor not the black pressure pipe) I suspect I will either have to mount this where the Puma's temp/fuel gauge usually resides: Oorrrrr... well I don't know to be honest... an angled spacer or locate it near the knee like those switch panels? Click image to enlarge I don't know, thoughts would be appreciated! Anyone know how much room there is behind the stock fuel/temp gauge? Anyway, the rest of this post you can all ignore as it for my sanity only given the amount of metric, imperial, and converting connectors that arrived today from RS Components for the pneumatic element of the build... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge(10 mm to 6 mm push connector) Click image to enlarge(3/8" to 3/8" 90 - RS components said it was 3/8" to 10 mm ) Click image to enlarge(NPT female 1/4" to NPT male 1/8" - inlet manifold boost pressure can't remember...) Click image to enlarge(10 mm to 1/4" NPT - air res to manifold) Click image to enlarge(G1/2" to 10 mm push - manifold inlets) Click image to enlarge(Female R1/4" to 6 mm push - pressure gauge) Click image to enlarge(10 mm push plugs) Click image to enlarge(6x 10 mm push manifold with 2x G1/2" inlets) Click image to enlarge(10 mm or 3/8" hose clamps) Click image to enlarge(Stainless steel worm drive hose clips 11 - 16 mm) Click image to enlarge(3/8" PCL fittings for air tools - female mounted to F/R bumpers) Click image to enlarge(10 Bar 50 mm gauge w/ R1/4" male thread - air tank pressure) And I have even more arriving soon with about 100 m of air lines in varying ODs... don't mix imperial with metric kids Next on the to-buy list is the hi lo diff lock pneumatic actuators, air tank, and maybe (definitely) air horns Stuart Cummins 130 Build Thread 58 130 Double Cab HCPU - Cairns Blue 04 110 Double Cab - Black (gone) 07 Audi RS4 Avant - Silver |

Rub-A-Dub-Dub, 130 Inch Tub
Click image to enlarge On Thursday we had the 130's new tub picked up locally from a lovely forum member! Fair to say I'm one happy boy yet again - this tub is beautifully straight and practically dent-free Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge(these hinges will need a lot of lubrication to get moving again) Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge It's off a late model TD5 from what I've been told. And I have hood and sticks to boot! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge There are also some very beefy HD axles that were delivered on Friday to house the Winchester diffs that have been sitting wrapped on a pallet for a few weeks now in the garage. I'll grab some pics of them sometime next week for you all And to top it all off, this happened on Friday Click image to enlarge If you know, you know Stuart Cummins 130 Build Thread 58 130 Double Cab HCPU - Cairns Blue 04 110 Double Cab - Black (gone) 07 Audi RS4 Avant - Silver |

Nice tub you have got there
It's a bit harder to find a tub for the back of mine at the moment and with the knowledge of knowing where it came from 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |

It's not even been built yet James - at this rate you'll probably have caved by the time I get it finished! If not I'll be sending you 130's listed for sale Just commit already! Probably my favourite purchase to date just because of this! I was unaware of this. I'll be honest though, I don't need a 130 for hard work - in fact I cant think of a rational reason as to why I even need a Defender at all! What's up with the current one? I always liked the look of an honest working defender Stuart Cummins 130 Build Thread 58 130 Double Cab HCPU - Cairns Blue 04 110 Double Cab - Black (gone) 07 Audi RS4 Avant - Silver |
