I'll update you patient lot next Friday
Need to stop promising updates as I haven't been down in nearly 2 months now. Don't expect many frequent updates from here on either, I have to move house again to start my new job in a couple weeks. Handed in my notice today - felt amazing!! Also: STILL NOT FOR SALE!!! No noteworthy updates, sorry folks. The project is still ongoing don't worry.
It was sitting in storage for a few months whilst they cleared other large projects and conversions. The 130 was though trailered back to their small garage as of 3 weeks ago to restart work - council planning and ecology studies have been holding up access to their new much larger workshop Got no progress pics either as I'm now back in the north of Scotland Stuart Cummins 130 Build Thread 58 130 Double Cab HCPU - Cairns Blue 04 110 Double Cab - Black (gone) 07 Audi RS4 Avant - Silver |

Huuaahh! Thread resurrection. The Cummins is officially in and mounted. Click image to enlarge Can't say I am overwhelmed with how long it has taken to get to this milestone, but we are here nonetheless. Their new mechanic has his own Cummins 90, so is applying all his lessons learnt on mine. Little bit of bulkhead modification required around the drivers side footwell as expected for the starter motor and then a widened transmission tunnel for the air assisted clutch. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Only bit of chassis modification required was a slight trim to a web stiffener on one of the crossmembers for the hand brake drum. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge They attempted to start it last week but it's either a 24 V starter or it just requires some serious CCA, hopefully the latter. Either way, it melted their cables so some serious copper is on order along with 2 new starter batteries. Further, the 130 is apparently provisionally booked for bodywork and paint late next month. Can't lie in saying that I didn't lose a fair amount of interest in this project given the delays to works and my new grocery getter, but that's going in storage for the winter so a 130 under the Christmas tree would be ideal. Click image to enlarge What else is there to tell...? Apparently the "new" turbo that came mounted to it is far from "new" and will require change out. Holset he351 was the suggestion. Front radius arms which have a castor correction need to be swapped out for standard arms as the prop exit angle from the front diff means the prop will clatter into the gearbox bell housing with the front suspension under compression. The engine mounted air compressor has been removed on the understanding that it is obnoxiously loud. Instead an engine bay mounter Viair 485C electric compressor will be installed. That is it for now - no promises on the next update... Stuart Cummins 130 Build Thread 58 130 Double Cab HCPU - Cairns Blue 04 110 Double Cab - Black (gone) 07 Audi RS4 Avant - Silver |

That is a big move forward and having a mechanic doing the install that also has the cummins under his bonnet is a bonus in my book 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.
