Sticking to the OP’s profile “one car for all days and everyday” I would be hard pressed not to choose a well built V8 Defender as my car for all purposes and situations. It would probably be a 110 DC (to add a little more versatility than my 90) with an insane amount of attention to detail applied to it, and a perfectly adapted 6.2 litre driving through a blueprinted Tremec TK600 six speed manual box.
I’d need to distract Rob Dickinson at Singer from building the best aircooled 911’s on the planet and have him create the same aura in a Defender. His cars show amazing respect for history and heritage, and are perfectly built. Rob grew up in the fens, so probably wouldn’t need long to adopt the Land Rover mindset. It would take several years and an insane amount of funds. On the surface it should look as much like any other relatively standard but well-shoed Defender, only displaying its qualities when you get up close. Cool & Vintage’s Defenders have the right vibe. Scroll through their gallery, if you haven’t been there yet. https://www.coolnvintage.com/gallery-coolnvintage 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTs, Recaro CSs, anorak, wellingtons |

A classy choice, but probably the least practical car ever built. IIRC the car in the photo was the second car built, chassis 41111, the "Esders" car, built without lights since Esders never drove at night, with coachwork designed by Jean Bugatti. Sadly the car was later rebodied by Binder as a (rather boring) coupe de ville. With a length of around 21 feet and a width of nearly 7 feet, you might not find it terribly practical as an everyday car. I imagine that the running costs would be considerable too. Curiously that photo has been reversed and the car appears to have left-hand drive, when in fact none of the T41s were LHD. Ettore, being a civilised man, felt that all cars should have RHD and be driven on the left of the road. |

I would pick this ABT RS6 fast good for the family and decent boot, however it would not look good pulling any of my trailers

Don't think you can mount a tow bar on a rs6 anyway... RS4 anyway aren't rated to tow anything... well my 16 plate model isn't. |

From a sensible point of view you can't go wrong with a fast German estate. Add a bit more bling and tuning and it could possibly tick all the boxes. I always fancied the M5 V10 estate. Pretty understated and 200+mph. However a sleeper could be even more fun. How about a VR38DETT engined Navara, Juke or 237mph Quashythingy? They look like ![]() This post may contain sarcasm. |

I think if I was in the market for a DBR1 I'd have my boat on annecy or Como and it'd be a Riva Aquarama..

As i drive mine the only thing would be to put a V8 in her and upgrade all the drive chain to cope with the manual gearbox

For a 1 car garage my criteria would be -
Understated Classic lines V8 Brings a smile to my face when driving it Able to get SWMBO, me and 2 dogs across Europe in comfort and at speed Able to cope with the usual day to day trips and poddles down Green Roads Easy clean interior One vehicle that I've owned came close to doing all of the above, updated and re-engineered it would be my choice https://www.kingsleycars.co.uk/models/king...-restomod/ Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right. |

Very nice, I haven't seen Kingsley before. It says they offer a tuned Rover or Chevvy LS V8. Which would you go for? WARNING.
