I thought there were new rules in place from the beginning of this year:
"The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has reviewed how the motor finance industry works and found that changes were needed to increase transparency for customers. It said they should be provided with more information when buying a vehicle on finance. The new regulations, published in July 2020, set out expectations centred around two areas: * Banning discretionary pricing models linked to commission * Clarifying commission disclosure rules to increase transparency for customers The first one means dealers will no longer be able to adjust customer interest rates, and finance commission will have no link to the rates that customers’ pay. The second one means dealers must disclose any commission payments, including the amount, ahead of an agreement being signed by a customer in circumstances where: * It has the potential to affect the dealer impartiality in recommending a particular lender or product, or * It could have a material impact on the customer’s decision to take up the finance offer, or * If the customer asks The FCA estimates that consumers could save £165m a year once the ban comes into effect, by protecting them from expensive rates and increasing competition in the sector." https://cardealermagazine.co.uk/publish/co...nth/214317 Who's asked? |

I ordered the Defender 110 S back in January.
Total OTP was just over £58K, put quite few extras on it. I offered the dealer 56K and he accepted, we didn't even talk about finance, just cash on delivery. It was all very casual - maybe I could of got more off, I didn't actually expect anything off as it was a bespoke build. Car has just arrived in the UK, they are fitting the accessories etc next week and I can collect it from Wednesday. |

Blimey. I wonder if 8 years in the RMR applies? Is so another £1100 discount is not to be sniffed at. |

I’m 35 years out, and not exactly in for very long before medically chopped. I’m hoping that counts, and that I’ve remembered my number correctly!

Re. Umber, I think I do, but will dig out my discharge papers to check. Now my TA number, in that for 4 years, I can remember some of it. Possibly, to paraphrase Eric Morecambe, all the right numbers but not necessarily in the right order.
