I'm seeing a lot of autotrader ads with second hand cars with 2-3k discount calling it a bargain.
I guess there is just no deals right now better than 2-3 k off brand new. A few better is a 4 pot with shed loads of options in some cases. I just found a great car on Auto Trader: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202102038644825 |

Yeah all of those deals just mitigate the options and older engines a bit.
Not sure many would have paid 70k for an se! |

That's the best lease deal I think I've seen!!
Still, not for me and I don't think I'll get what I want before April. Defender 90 or 110 Blue green or maybe silver with contrast roof Plastic wheel arches, mud flaps and side steps Any trim but s would be nice with steel wheels 5k down 36 months 550 per month Think I need to wait a year or so. |

Yeah probably more like 600 with the options. Don't really want a white one.
Still, it's given me food for thought ! |

I think that dealerships have to review the APR on their PCP deals. I seem to remember that back in 2008 when we had the last financial crash LR were offering 0% finance?

Very much depends on the product. I would say premium makers are worse but Dacia charges 7 percent iirr.
Where it gets really bad is second hand pcp. The standard seems to be 10 but you rarely see it lower than 7.9 which can be killer on 40k plus cars. This is why I'm trying out my own bank this time round. They do 4.5 on pcp, 4.3 on hp and 2.3 on normal unsecured loans up to 30k. My father in law got a 0 percent hp on his budget nearly new car from a 3rd party dealerships but you need to be wary of those offers. Often they make up the money elsewhere like simply adding more to the price of the car. At the end of the day, this is how they make money now as the margins on cars -- especially second hand -- are so low. Either that or paint protection, gap and other guff. If you take away finance then they need to make money elsewhere. |

So how does this work? A D200 S with a bit of colour and ugly kids glass is £50,715.
Click image to enlarge But this one is £55,195, discounted to £52,855. I can’t see anything else added. Click image to enlarge Not such a good discount! PS Even an SE with those options is less than that, £54,085. PPS It has a removable tow bar so add £780 on. |

I struggle with the pricing in the UK. It has to be deliberate.
Why can't we have the paperwork that goes into a US model ~ line item detail with all associated costs. Click image to enlarge |

Interestingly starting to see a fair few D240s in the mix at the same price(ish) as the D200 equivs. And with quite good extras in there, well for moi anyway.

Whilst not massive in the grand scheme of things, the dealer has knocked £1000 off the price of mine, without me asking.
That’s what buying 11 LRs over the years gets you 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue |
