When you put it like that DSL it doesn’t look as good as it did at first sight..
So can you currently still spec a FE 3.0L or has the FE model now finished? Jim |

No, it’s still on the system and boxes available for ticking. My spec as per a couple of days ago. https://build.landrover/7848B673
FE is just another version of LR’s not so-Limited Editions, the gift that keeps on giving. ![]() ![]() |

I just spec’d this with the cold climate pack as this appears to be the only way to get a heated steering wheel.

I thought heated steering wheel was standard on the FE, the winter pack just adds heated windscreen nozzles and headlamp washing.

Here’s the e mail I had from the salesman selling the 2.0L FE up in Hull after telling him that I wanted to test drive a 3.0L before committing to a purchase:
“Ok James, 240 to 250 BHP really doesn’t make any telling difference. The big difference is you won’t get a new one for mid £50k price range. Let me know when you can because I imagine these will be taken very quickly” I have just sent him the illustration for the FE 3.0L from Drive The Deal. Let’s see if he replies...🤔 Don’t forget the 2.0L FE he is selling is a used vehicle with 3000 miles on the clock. Jim Last edited by jim4244 on 5th Feb 2021 12:32pm. Edited 1 time in total |

HP is irrelevant, torque is what matters and the 3.0 provides a great deal more of that. Not to mention the smoothness and lower stresses that the six-cylinder layout provides.

IIRC the D250 has something in the region of 140 more torques than the D240 - all for 10hp, 2 cylinders and 1ltre extra. Peak torque is also reached 250rpm lower in the 6 cylinder D250 than the D240 - 1200rpm versus 1450 for the D240
The only thing I don’t like about the D240 is the way that even the slightest, gentlest pressure on the gas pedal can send the gears dropping and the revs screaming up to 3500 when it’s cold. It’s a bit better when it’s warm but not much. It doesn’t spoil the car for me but having been driving a 1.5 3 cylinder Turbo petrol PHEV for the previous two years the way the D240 screams on acceleration, even the Mini couldn’t manage. Some “deals” claimed here but on PCP and look how low the annual miles allowance is and how expensive the excess miles are - I clocked up 6002 miles on Tuesday having had my car since June 12th and it’s been sat on the drive for a lot of that time and mostly local drives to the nearest supermarket - two longer trips to LRE Dunkeld and down to Galloway to the Forest Estates off-road site are the only drives over 30 minutes I’ve done since June in it. Also 5.9% interest on LR Finance (IIRC that’s Black Horse by another name) when the BoE is considering negative rates to get us out and spending again.......... https://www.john-clark.co.uk/land-rover/ne...4dZU9r3dR4 Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

PCP looks to be the main way most people will be getting into a new Defender so not sure why you think the deals deserve " "? 8k annual mileage appears a good starting point, given the actual reported miles we drive in the UK. A sample size of one, yourself, does very little to alter that mathematically speaking. Have I missed reference to excess mileage costs? And talking of claims ~ you have gone rather silent on this:

I went 8,000 on my PCP, which I felt a bit wary about, but on reflection the mileage I was doing pre-covid was averaging less than 7,000 a year and I am 99% certain our office (75 mile round trip) is going to be permanently closed soon and I shall officially become a home worker - vast majority of site visits around the country have always been by train so that won't change.
So there you go my 7000 miles at 231g/km CO2's spanks a reps euroshitbox doing 25,000 miles a year at 100g/km CO2's in eco-credentials!!!! Steve N | 21MY Defender ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I've noticed tff he e best pcp deals seem to be discounted and second hand fe and se cars. I've calculated many examples where the s and even base models are costing more.
This is coming down to balloon payments. After 3 years even second hand 2l fe is 30k. The s is a mere 22k! Cheapest so far was second hand d240 se which came To 580pm with 5k down, 3 years at 10k per year. I do t even want the se trim stuff and think s trim is sweet spot with steel wheels. Btw 2 I have phoned about have sold. It seems the good deals are being snapped up but people. Ring picky. |

5.9 is V indeed a rubbish rate on a new car but my bank offering 4.5 which is decent. It's actually excellent in that it works on second hand too. Very high mileages don't work so well on pcp and especially pch but most people do 8l a year. I do 10. Pcp, hp, Loan or pch are all perfectly good products. Which one is best for you depends on individual circumstances and the specific terms of the contract. Personally, I like the pcp option to hand back in this climate and I like to switch my cars every three years for variety anyway. |

and here’s his reply.. Looks good James, To be fair there is no point at this time looking at used Defenders as I agree the value doesn’t seem to be there.
