Clutch....problems
Hi
Today as I was driving - my clutch suddenly changed. The pedal felt very light - and the clutch engaged when it was just a few cm from the bottom. I pulled over and checked fluid - all ok. Driving along again it changed from ok to "light" and back again - now after 100 km everything is ok again?? What to do Confused - if anything. Is the slavecylinder situated inside? I still have the original clutch...55.000 km.
Regards

In your case the slave cylinder is located on the left side of the bellhousing about half way up. Sounds like air in the line. Puma 110" SW

If it's a Puma the slave cylinder in inside the bellhousing - it's an annular unit round the gearbox input shaft and to access it you have to remove the gearbox/transfer box assembly.

The object on the outside is the return flow regulator in the hydraulic line (provided to protect the transmission due to the reaction of the anti-stall if your foot slips off the pedal).

If the clutch suddenly gets light but still works I would initially suspect the pedal return spring, but I am not sure why it would then go back to normal.

That sounds like a great way to complicate a repair job - I can just imagine having to remove the gearbox in the middle of Africa just to repair a knackered slave cylinder Rolling Eyes John
