Great update db950 many thanks Thumbs Up

The only thing that made me shudder was the Optimill fuel cap Rolling Eyes i had one on Millie and after about a month it started leaking out in the usual place, so i put my aftermarket one back on which has never leaked, it was a sad day when i put it back in it's box and it's still there Sad

Thanks for the feedback Clayton.
It’s kinda funny...I nearly didn’t fit the cap anyway!
I normally prefer to just keep things original/genuine but bought the cap on a whim months ago but when I came to fit it I thought it was plenty heavy enough really, almost unnecessarily over-engineered.
I may just get a new original cap before it gets a chance to leak! Very Happy 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html

I know what you mean, i had been waiting a long time for a Tdi fuel cap from Optimill and when it came out i got it, well chuffed i was until the leaking. I have found after a while even the original fuel caps leak, so i had to go down the aftermarket route, which i have not been disappointed with my choice, but it's a great shame as you, i like to keep things OEM looking Very Happy 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

When I picked the roof up from Errol at Coastline Campers I managed to buy one of his side locker boxes off him, albeit an unfinished one!
Got the hinges bolted on and compression locks fitted then prepped and painted...

It’s very awkward spraying inside the box and just caught the back of it with the gun when applying the matt lacquer, will have to place something strategically inside to cover it up Laughing

The Alu Cab awning brackets come in plain stainless so they needed painting and the MUD MOLLE panel comes in grey so did that in black too...

Stripped the steps down to clean up and paint. Will fit these for now but in the future may swap them out for sliders of some kind.

Thank you Keith, appreciated Thumbs Up

Hopefully get the wings and bonnet done this week, which just leaves the 3 doors then to complete the bodywork. 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html

No problem, love reading and researching other people’s experiences and learning from it, can often make the difference between trail and error and getting it right first time so I appreciate people posting on here.

May I ask, how are you getting on with the Cadac stove, would you recommend it?

yes we got the stove and would recommend it - the hot plate grills are a game changer for us and the size is good for hiding away - I am fabricating some wind shields to fit on the side of the cooker when used out side, but it works very well and reasonable on gas too ...

Great stuff, sounds good, thanks for the feedback.
Still deciding on the internal layout, would really like twin burners and a sink inside but realise that will take up a lot of space so may go for a single burner and sink, either way will we have a secondary stove for outside use. 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html
