Unreal lack of self-awareness - it’s clearly a functional cover plate rather than a bit of styling - maybe try to make your little girl anti-JLR whining clearer.

Did you just make this up?

It’s structural magnesium alloy that would be there whether you could see it or not - and, if anything, that looks like a bigger height difference from floor to seat back.

It is beyond obvious that cover over the seat mechanism is just that rather than “styling” - the only element which that attribution might apply to is the dash beam, which is actually structural.

Strongly disagree - the old W463 was woefully out of date, but at least had some integrity given its links to the original military version; the new W463 is just embarrassing, possibly the most cynically-conceived car on sale. Mercedes avoided the difficult decisions and took the easy option when they didn't know how to replace it - on what planet does a car which will never have any commercial or professional variant benefit from the underpinnings of your average twin cab? Even worse at £150k+.

And yet you said it?

It's beyond obvious that you can't fess up to just being plain wrong ~ it's no big mistake, but you wriggling away from your statement is cringeworthy...

It is not conceivable that anyone could mistake a cover panel for a structural member - your post, and your post only, caused confusion.

How did this confuse you?

It looks like Gerry spent the money on an aluminium bar for style (?) and Ford spent the money on functionality and getting the rear seats to fold flat.

As others have found conversing with a troll is rather pointless.

Really? The only possible thing that might be inferred from, “looks like Gerry spent the money on an aluminium bar for style“, when thinking of a Defender is the dash cross bar. How can a basic practical cover plate even enter that debate? It’s patently clear that the Defender’s solution is far more practical than the Branger’s.

Feeding the trolls again...

To Phil, our resident metallurgist:

If you're not big on words and their meaning was the accompanying picture not a rather large clue?

By the way what have you got against little girls? (please don't answer if it would incriminate you...)

And when it comes to negative posts of your 360 or so, how many are not?

Indeed, how many threads have you actually started with a positive theme?

Have you owned or driven a JL Wrangler, or is this just your opinion? What is the basis of your statement?

Own one? Definitely not.

Very basic ladder chassis, very basic live axles very basically located, very basic steel body on top. Cents to build, it’s the reason US full-size trucks are such cash cows.

So you own a Wrangler? Enlighten us - are they popular on the 4x4 Response scene? Plenty of storage space for your hi-viz and extreme survival tools?

Oh no... not another negative post from our resident misogynistic metallurgist...

Why are you here, you clearly have no affinity to many of the people who post on here...

Do I own a Wrangler ~ no, but I do have respect for those that do. Thumbs Up

Care to answer directly the questions asked of you?
