More heat needed In my TD5 110, I have good air flow/speed from the blowers and currently only have 2 settings on the direction of air flow. Windscreen or foot wells and windscreen. The cable clamp slips on the cable cover on the mounting plate which is why I only have 2 settings. What I don't have is huge amounts of heat. I get more heat out the top vent than the bottom vents. I am sure before the bulkhead was done, the heat was a lot more. Last measure was around mid 50degc from top vents. Not sure if this the right amount of heat or not? I did replace the coolant last year and also the thermostat (which I found to be faulty) and then reverted back to the old one. I flushed the matrix out as well when I replaced the coolant. From what I can tell I have full movement on the lever that controls heat output from the matrix/heater housing. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock

I actually swapped it out because of a coolant leak from the end of my old matrix, however the new one (along with replacing the foam insulation within the heater box) is much more efficient that the old one (which wasnt visibly corroded or blocked that i know of). Trouble is you have to hold off turning the fan up until the engine has warmed up fully in cold weather or it cools the engine back down. I did see an Alisport uprated heater matrix however. GREENI Member Since: 22 Aug 2010 Location: staffs Posts: 10383	Part of the issue is the lower part of the dash is basically the whole of the piping before it gets to the piddly little vents. Even a brand new matrix isn't great (have one on the V8 ) and they are a lot warmer running than the td5! Maybe a diesel heater like Eberspacher?
