I´ve been following this thread with interest for a while. My summer tyre 255/85 KM2´s were looking a little tatty last year, with cracks appearing. I thought they were from around 2012 (the first owner fitter them on my 2.2), but discovered are from 2009. Older Mud-Terrains do feel and sound quite raw on tarmac (particularly noticeable when I make the season swap to the excellent 235 Cooper Winter tyres).
I asked my local (trusted and favoured) tyre service for a quote on KM3´s, and to look if they can find a set of the KM2´s as a comparison. I´d happily stay with the KM2´s as I like the white lettering (yes there is another fan!) and the blocky tread. Well that changed, when they came back to me with € 840,- for four KM3´s and a staggering € 1340,- for the KM2´s!! And they couldn't verify how old the KM2´s are. 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MT´s, Recaro CS´s, anorak, wellingtons |

I think they must be ET15, but I haven't had the chance to look for markings to that effect on the rims, I'm afraid.

Thats an aggressive looking tyre! I'm deciding between these or coopers at the moment.

After a year+ of motoring, how are you folks who have fitted them finding their on-road noise levels? Still better than the KM2s for those of you who replaced them?
I'm split between the KM3 or the KO2 for my next set. While the KM2 noise level is bearable on the motorway, I suspect they are still the source of most of the noise in the cabin, which makes listening to the radio a bit hard work. Off the motorway at lower speeds I don't find the noise an issue at all, but really the KO2 is what my head is telling me to get. The mud terrain's just look so good though 2005 Td5 90 XS 1989 V8 110 CSW |

Once brandnew the noise level of my KM3 was far lower than today (after using them for almost 2 years) |

So I think you are saying the KM3 tyres are a lot noisier after 2 years of driving Julie? That's disappointing, what a pity they can't make a tyre which noise characteristics don't change significantly over time. 2005 Td5 90 XS

There's also an advantage :
1-. 18 months on the truck the tires aren't stinky anymore. If they're new, you'll smell it from 6...7 feet distance. 2- the noisier they are, the longer they last |

New set for me today. Nice tires, surprisingly quiet, even on the highway. Needed a lot of weight to balance. 300-500 grams per wheel. And yes, they certainly do have a smell to them...
I’ve got less then 100km on them and still getting the feel for them. But around town they are very comfortable. Click image to enlarge Roaming around 🇳🇴🇨🇠|
