Cracking thread!
I should have gone to bed an hour ago, but just read it all through - hats off for taking on such a build - very impressed and we have no doubt the end result will be a corker |

He said he could finish the engine work, but never got in touch. Embarrassing for me, as I was trying help two people out.

Oh I see!
Where is Mike based? I seem to remember it’s in the midlands like us right? If so and he has got stuck, would be happy to help out, I’ve built over 20 V8 engines of my own over the years, and had three V8 defenders too. I only need payment in bacon sandwiches and a regular supply of cups of tea! |

It may not have been technical issues that caused the topic to stall.
I have been wondering all along how this 'conversion' would be registered with DVLA. Having been involved with the kit car world for many years, there are many pitfalls here, especially when the build is being documented on an open forum. I hope it is all water under the bridge now but I agree its a great shame that we are not privy to the conclusion. Richard Defender 90 SVX |

I'm sure it is pretty close, I saw Mike at a local LR meet in January and he was poking and prodding under my bonnet

If anyone had said it would be this long before id got it finished i think if have laughed. Feeling slightly embaressed its been so many years when i started lol. At least I saved some money in diesel!
I havent been on the forum for a good few months and was surprised to see my old thread back on the first page! I didnt really think anyone was that interested in all honesty; however Ill definately post up some images to show you all where its got to. Im at the point where I can list whats needed to finish it, which is a milestone in and of itself lol |

Rather than jump to the latest update, I think ill add some some updates on what I did between updates.
So this was back in 2017 according to the photos, but the job I wasnt planning to do, refurbing my tub. Honestly it would have been easier to buy a better one in hindisight but at least its original.
