PUMA CLUTCH REPLACEMENT
Hello All

Is you can see by the subject i might be needing a new clutch on my puma soon but will be getting in confirmed within the next week or 2

I expect most ppl on here have replaced theres.....does anyone recommend a Heavy Duty clutch kit over against the normal...obviously the hd ones are alot more expensive but do they actually make a bigger difference or not??

I have seen the uprated ones on paddocks website....i guess they will be the same as heavy duty
Anyone used them???

If you go genuine, is there a difference between a clutch for a regular 122HP Puma and a 150HP Puma like on the Autobiography and Adventure last editions?
And would it make sense to ask dealer to install the latter on a 122HP Puma?
What parts all need to be replaced to do a good job?
Why do I ask? On the way home from work tonight, my clutch died without any real preadvise, just on a stretch of 2 km getting into any gear became the longer the more difficult, and then suddenly clutch was just kaput. Rolling Eyes

Mine went under at 38k miles. I think the new genuine models of clutchbare a redesign. No Guts, No Glory.

Redesigned, yes, but they're still not much good! Sad

After 50k miles the springs have a permanent set and have lost their springiness.

So you reccomend a normal clutch rather than a heavy duty one?????

Mine will be getting tuned up so would be better to have stronger springs etc save it happaning again

My concern with a HD clutch would be that it would make the gearchange heavier.

However, I cannot comment if this actually is the case or not. No Guts, No Glory.

As its only the springs that are the problem atm

I believe it has already been improved/redesigned several times. But what does "improved" really mean? On a scale of 100 being perfect, going from a 10 to 20 is also already an improvement.

There is a difference yes. The AB's did come with an uprated clutch, and you can order them. However the uprated clutch is about £1300 from LR - that's just the kit without labour. Shocked The latest version 'standard' clutch from LR is only about £290.

There is also a later type clutch slave cylinder too, which suposedly makes the clutch lighter, i didn't notice a massive difference on mine, but maybe it already had one. These are a reasonable price, but i don't know at which point they started fitting them as standard.
