Effin delivery drivers.
It was a damned good job I just happened to be out in the garden with the dog when the little prat of a driver knocked on our gate, I think the only reason the dog noticed is because he must have shuffled his feet on the rough tarmac as he didn't even make the gate rattle on its catch! Not only that there's a doorbell right in the middle of the gate. Dog is going mental so open the gate and there he stands, all 5'2" of him. little overweight, looking like he's not got that many years before retirement with one of those wannabe Lord Kitchener moustaches all dressed as if it's the middle of winter with his "uniform" coat on etc and a high-vis vest. Now seeing that I've stopped the dog from barking, stepped out of my property through a gate with the house number in big numbers screwed on it he starts off with is this Number 25? It's hot, he's stood there like a little Labour Shop Steward from British Leyland in the 70's, I think the Pope would be forgiven to be a bit terse with the reply. He then asks for identification! FFS I'm afraid I started to get a little frustrated by this stage, got my driving licence and a whole load of bills that were handy and chucked them at him, he tried to get his own back by taking his time with getting his ticket machine sorted, by the way have those things got cameras in them as when I initially opened the gate he was holding it up pointing at me and I'm sure I heard a camera shutter click like you do on a mobile phone. It seems as though he couldn't get back in his little Berlingo van quick enough as when I scrawled a load of squiggles on his gadgets screen he didn't notice that I printed my name as Mickey Mouse! This weather certainly encourages the GOM in me, allthough at my age it doesn't take much anyway |

Agree with your sentiments but I have to add that most of them can’t read either! Or so it seems, how they find people from address labels is a mystery to me when I see they can’t read watching them chuck around boxes in the back of the van marked Handle with Care or Fragile or clearly state this way up that you have to read upside down. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Most of the delivery drivers round here have Polish or Balkan accents.
Doubt they could understand written English anyway. |

I was shying away from his ethnicity, but I will mention that he would have been born from parents that were on one of those boats that came to Britain in the 60's

I've had to make an emergency dash to France today via Dover / Calais. The A20 was an absolute disgrace, average 40mph cameras for a long stretch for no reason. What on earth will it be like in peak season? On the upside the A16 through to Le Touquet was properly rapid (sadly / thankfully I wasn't in a Defender!)

I've done that same route twice in the last two weeks. That average speed camera section is one of the most banal pieces of road management I have ever come across. Absolutely pointless. A conspiracy theorist (otherwise known as one of the Ferry staff) swore it was, in his belief, because of a policy locally to try and drive (pardon the pun) more people to the Channel Tunnel. He agreed when I said that more people would go to the CT if they cut their prices to match the Ferries, but until that happens many will stay with the Ferry, the opportunity for some fresh air, a stroll and some fish and chips Monsieur Le Grenadier

BTW, it was the first crossing I had undertaken in 18mths. The proximity and scale of the refugee camp came as quite a shock. I have seen/been to refugee camps, slums etc all over the world, but seeing this in the very heart of Europe in one of the EU's founding countries, was really eye opening. Whatever people's views of the 'immigration crisis' whether on the fringes of Europe or with regard to those trying to get into the UK, it is nothing short of tragic. It is very different seeing something in the flesh compared to on TV and sometimes I feel (and certainly felt after returning from Iraq), that the moaners and the idle leading their comfortable existences in the West should see this sort of human tragedy for real, eat some humble pie, be grateful for what they have and be aware of what others don't. They don't have to stop believing that uncontrolled immigration (for example) is wrong, but you need to see such situations so that you retain a small amount of humanity and understand that life is more important than how you look on your latest FaceBook selfie. Just my opinion. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Yes, we saw a group of youngsters trying to make their way up the railway line last night, probably for the umpteenth time, knowing the danger involved but willing to take the risk. Makes you think.

Don't get me started about delivery drivers! Yesterday had a delivery vehicle into the business park, drive pass our unit which is clearly signed with our unit number on. A few minutes later it had turned round and come back up, obviously lost. He was looking for us but according to him we were in unit B. All the units are labelled with a large number and a capital letter. According to this BRITISH driver the paperwork said unit B WRONG, all the paperwork and labels had our correct unit number on! Remain campaigners that threaten the British public, amongst many things what a lovely (says sarcastically) bunch they are.
Threats and aggressive behaviour is what they are all about. No wonder the public is confused, they have set about to confuse and attempt to over ride with aggression their fickle point. Even on the TV debates they attempt to drown out anyone trying to speak.... And that foreign bloke on one tv debate last week a accusing Farage of racism with his Pharmaceutical job. (Which he has vested interests of course with the EU *in this particular "gentlemans" case.* Making a throat slitting gesture, well, that says it all really. |
