I will have you know that scrapper is by far and away the best "free" magazine gift I have ever had... Sterling work and I love the wiper blade clearing part of the tool (the serrated saw tooth edge).

The sad news is that the thin edge of the wedge snapped off whilst trying to clear the screen Big Cry Big Cry Going to have to source a new one now. Or alternatively I wonder if I could just put a new edge on the broken edge and keep it alive... Thumbs Up It shall never die... Bow down Bow down

Great work helping out there!

One thing that strikes me is that when push comes to shove you'll always find someone willing to help and they usually drive a Defender...

Roads around me tonight - not a car in sight but plenty of Defender drivers ferrying people around!

Great looking Landy too, loving the ice effect paintwork Laughing Thumbs Up

It makes me wonder if we could petition the government to reduce road tax for Defenders if they are part of a voluntary organisation... maybe even tax back on fuel used... After all the hard work they have done and will continue to do in the future, you know... Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Thanks, Miffy is no beauty queen, get too close and you'll see the brush strokes... But she's a keeper, I would sell my house before I'd sell her Thumbs Up

Being as the weekends training has not happened we are going to head back up to Anglesey tomorrow, nice and gentle like.

That freezing rain must have made for challenging conditions on the roads?

Yes makes you think where the idea came from... Rolling Eyes Still on my list of things to get. Going up a size of tyre is great in so many ways, apart from the spray up the sides... Hate road dirt/salt...

Thanks Clayton. Just grabbing some breakfast before the long haul back up the M5.

As for scrappers I bought this one for my step-father this past Christmas. Looks to be a great bit of kit;

Finally got most of the parts to begin putting the Mud dash pod together. I like this pod it does what I need it to, but it is only just big enough to fit the Madman gauge in to.

Gauges and switches; Madman gauge, 52mm gauge (currently water temp but will be a boost gauge), 4x carling switch gang mount and the Check Temp gauge.

The recessed fascia panel does make it difficult to mark out for cutting. The plastic is hard and pretty thick. After marking out I used a multitude of drilled pilot holes, filing and a mini rotary rasp to remove the material necessary to fit the gauges and switch panel. All in all though I am happy with the end product;

If I was to suggest an improvement or two to the Mud Pod it would be that from the drivers seat it would be great if the pod could be angled slightly. It would make the further gauges much easier to see, especially those gauges with LCD displays. I realise the current version is suitable for left and right hand drive vehicles, it would just be nice is all. Also 1-2mm taller fascia to accomodate the carling switch panel and Madman gauge, only just fits.

The only wiring in position is the checktemp wiring, I hope to run the madman loom this week, weather permitting. The switches still need to be sourced;

Does anyone know where to get a Carling type cruise control switch/button with a green back light?

Does anyone know of a 0 - 2.5/3 Bar boost gauge with more graduations than the VDO one below;

Anyone have any experience of R-Spec gauges? Look decent and in keeping with the LR/VDO gauges...

Had a good couple of hours on Miffy late yesterday afternoon and finally got the bumper DRLs all wired up.

Dear lord they are bright. Much much much brighter than the Wipac LED side lights. The control box that I have for these lights turns the DRLs off when the main headlights are turned on.

The only slight his-up is that they turn back on again when high beam is selected, so have to modify the wiring a little. Just ran out of daylight Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Anyway here are a few pictures;

Huh! High beam on, DRLs on... Need to modify the loom slightly...

I am thrilled with these lights.

Next job Madman gauge Thumbs Up

The interesting moment of the wiring was when I checked the inline fuse. We have had a lot of rain and snow recently but this is ridiculous...

Miffy is our everyday, off-road, go anywhere, do anything vehicle. One thing we have wanted, no lusted after for quite some time is a fridge/freezer to keep the dogs food frozen and the tonic water chilled for the G&T... Rolling Eyes

Anyway, "EVIL eBay" moment struck over the weekend and we now have a Waeco CF-50 DC fridge/freezer. It is an older model but it was a great price.

The CF-50 came with the 12/24v cable, the 240/110v adapter and best of all with the insulation jacket. Thumbs Up

The freeze test. Blinkin' thermo-gun has died so plan B: Freeze 200ml of water from room temp;

Looks great, but.......What exactly constitutes an “emergency” switch on a portable freezer? What does the switch do?.....call emergency services for you or freeze blood/plasma bags for mass casualties?...lol

Ok small flaw in the DRL light install. They automatically turn off with the main beam headlights as they should (12v sensor wire from the headlight wire to the DRL control box) but because the Defenders high beam is on a different switch and wire the DRLs come back on again. Rolling Eyes Whistle

Temporary fix this evening is to have the DRL sensor wire connected to side lights. Not quite what I am looking for, but legal.

I need a switched relay of some sort I think to allow two individual 12v feeds (from the main beam and high beam) for the DRL control box, but that does not allow the two headlight feeds to connect to each other. Rolling Eyes

LOL don't be daft... It for G&T related emergencies, press it and an all stations call goes out automatically... Mr. Green Mr. Green

And in the real world... That button is in case of an internal electrical fault, it sounds like it bypasses some portion of the electronics and allows the compressor to operate and maintain the temperature. Actually struggled to find the manual for this discontinued model.
