Click image to enlarge Its the n/s rear. Basically the horizontal internal uppers were the wrong length/shape so made it too long also the stub is welded at the wrong angle. So the entire internal rear cage was replaced. The second attempt fitted perfectly. Welds and finish are very good, looks grubby on the photo as I had been handling them a lot with my grubby hands. No instructions and bits that don't fit |

Now I see, I didn't realise it was internal an internal/external cage. Russell

Good news Kim at PPC sent me an email saying that they would pay for the recoating and apologised for all the inconvenience caused
No email says she has reported me to the police for the shotgun threat on this site Seriously it's true LandyDubai Keep the shiny side up! 09 110 XS BAS remap 09 90 pick up BAS remap 08 D3 V8 G4 Spec Bentley Speed GT 2009 G55 2003 Ford Raptor 2010 - new toy! |

good result,
but any company that had pride in what they made woulnt have sent it out in the first place. I've got gates on the farm with a better finish than that cage. |

I will second that Still, the whole experience with them is a bad one.... you don't expect to pay thousands of pounds for something to then have to do a load of work by yourself. I find it hard to see how they are still in buisiness. They must loose 50-75% of profit on repairs and refunds. They couldn't have made any money out of you once they have refunded the costs. Glyn |

I did send them a link and asked if this is how they wanted to be percieved by the Large number of defender owners that read this site, or to explain what went wrong, but doesn't look like they will take that opportunity. Glad you got some money back though. Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

Sounds like they have took the oportunity by offering to pay for the work. Then he comes on here and says that it is all fine and they get a 'good' name again. Either that or they have realised that all the members on this forum are now never going to purchase even if they try to explain. Glyn |

Merlyn,
Is that a roll cage or an exoskeleton? Its a serious looking bit of kit, what weight does it add? Cheers Keith |

I've had both a SD external cage (on my 90) and a P&P external on my current 110.
the SD one had the coating flake off within months, I complained to SD who suggested i take the whole cage off again to return it for a look at... couldn't be arsed with that, as it was just a laning truck anyway. the P&P cage on my 110 is coated perfectly, and it fitted perfectly, and still looks good today (apart from the scratches) They (P&P) added some extra mounting tags i wanted, no problem at all. A friend of mine has the exact same P&P cage on his 110, which he slid down the road on its side a couple of years ago. he and his passengers walked away unscathed. he re-righted the 110 and continued the event. got it straightened with a JCB later on and re-coated... good as new! P&P get my vote. Last edited by diesel_jim on 8th Feb 2011 7:01pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Good news…..looks like the forum has some power!
Kim at PP Cages called me yesterday and after a long discussion she came to realize that the cage they sent to me was not PP Cages would say like to advertise; and are professional enough to stand up and admit this! In this world you’re only as good as your last job. Pity it took group pressure to resolve this. I have been issued with a credit note to cover most of the cost of reworking the coating, and to be fair this is a big chunk of the original price. Kim has also offered to work on the next 110 project albeit with a more diligent approach. PP Cages have now gone a long way to restore my faith in their standing behind PPC products. Thanks to all who joined the thread! LandyDubai Keep the shiny side up! 09 110 XS BAS remap 09 90 pick up BAS remap 08 D3 V8 G4 Spec Bentley Speed GT 2009 G55 2003 Ford Raptor 2010 - new toy! |

That is great news - whilst it is good to hear you are all sorted I am also looking at this a little selfishly as well - I quite fancy one of their cages - the one cibit has in this thread looks great http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic3841.html - I particularly like the mesh on the roof so I don't need to increase the headroom with a roof rack for the occasional use I give a roof rack.
If I do go however I will print the thread out and take it with me and ask them to hit the note on quality and not deliver something like their first attempt to you. Congrats again though - a great result and for P&P for realising the people power of the forum. Craig |
