Yep, and by then the Suzuki Jimny would have been out for a year, it's on the production line now, and thought to be sub-£15,000!...
Click image to enlarge Plus the release of the Ineos may be imminent by then; the Jeep has already been revealed (yesterday) and who knows what others are waiting? Ford are supposed to have a Defender rival coming out, and maybe a Toyota, or Mitsubishi? This was an article in Autocar, in 2012: "Land Rover’s brand boss, John Edwards, recently revealed to Autocar that he was “massively encouraged” by the reaction to the DC100, and by the fact that people thought they were looking at a £45,000 vehicle. “It’s £20,000 to £25,000 in reality,” he said." Can anyone, really believe in their wildest dreams that the new Defender will be priced below £25,000? Given the prices of the Evoque, I think a starting price of £35,000 is likely, and ending at £65,000 I don't know what happened to the 'entry-level Land Rover'! https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-car...land-rover Now left. |

I'm looking forward to the new Defender but the old one certainly has more style.

Thanks for sharing. The article appears to contain the most accurate and plausable information up until now. Stephen 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTs, Recaro CSs, anorak, wellingtons |

Thanks for posting that, it was well put together & a good read, I enjoyed it. However, it really did not say anything that we do not already know....JLR are doing a magnificent job of keeping REAL factual info absolutely secret! Pickles. |

They are being so coy about it that I'm wondering if it will surprise us all, and some of us might actually like it.
They'll have to work miracles to get me on board though. But I'm open to having my prejudices challenged...... |

I've done that in an LDV Convoy, so that's hardly a challenge! |

That is it "as imagined by Autocar", so a complete work of fantasy.

They should have hired Autocar for the design. I like it a lot! 😄

I am relatively new to the defender and land rover scene and only owned one for two and a half years but can never see me parting with the one I have now, I will consider the new one when it is released for the wife to run because I think it will be a little more refined.
I am looking to purchase a series 1 at some point going forward as a weekend toy but until then will be enjoying me 2012 110 and driving about with a big I am seriously thinking of taking my 110 to BAS and having the intercooler and upgrade to help with lumpy performance around town along with the dead band when pulling my caravan, I have always left all my other cars un touched without performance upgrades but reading all the reports can only seem to see real benefits. Anyone had issues following an upgrade? I would be keen on your views. Cheers Leeroy |
