Looks very similar to the disco in this link: http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/spy-shots/lan...e-to-come/
Maybe a new discovery model or old photo? |

That looks like a heavily disguised D5, possibly sporting the much rumoured revised tailgate. Darren

The story says on test ahead of the 2016 motor show so it's a very old story and pic of the now released disco 5. It would have looked a bit better if they'd stuck with that tailgate set up. Ray My build thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic17615.html |

Ah, didn't spot that. Perhaps they'll just surprise everybody with the new tailgate Darren

Land Rover have moved...upmarket. They'll never sell a small 4x4 again. The new Defender is going to be £35,000 minimum, I firmly believe that now, possibly a lot more. As I've said before; if Suzuki can make a profit on the great little Jimny 4x4 that costs just £14,000 why can't Land Rover? Sadly, I won't be buying a JLR product anymore, either. If they were ultra reliable, like Skodas and anything Japanese, then I might be tempted. But seeing as they are never going to be that type of company, and just want to keep making bigger and bigger cars, and more expensive ones, then they've lost me. I've had a RR and three Defenders. Sadly, that's it. Now left.

And extracted from that....
“To me a retrospective approach proves a lack of creativity," said McGovern. The new Mini, new Beetle and new Fiat 500’s being spectacular examples of retrospective iconic sales flops eh! |

This just shows it's ego driven. It's all about how he perceives a design rather than what people actually want. As above the evolutionary mini, fiat, 911, beetle etc do rather well relying on design cues from the past.
From what I gather the radically different D5 isn't doing too well compared with the evolutionary D4 as evidenced by them already talking of re designing the hideous back end. |

I just read this today as well. Looks the DC100 fans will be happy. 1999 Defender 110 2003 P38 2007 RR SC "And that's why it needs to be celebrated, because when the Defender goes we'll have lost this pointer to where we came from, and we're really going to miss it." As I was out walking the dogs, I was thinking about Mr Govan's comments in the article above and I am sure that he is confused or in denial. The original Land Rover was creative, as was the original Range Rover and the Discovery but creative isn't a word that I would use to describe Land Rovers current range.
Boring, mediocre, bland, soulless, unimaginative, ugly, depressing, these are all words that one could use to describe today's crop of designs. The Land Rover legend was born with the Series 1 and is kept alive by enthusiasts, as there's little to get enthusiastic about in the current range I wonder about the future.
