Interior Light Mounting
This might turn out to be a stupid question but can anybody tell me if the backing plates for the later interior lights are fixed to the underside of the central roof rib or are just clamped to the headlining?

The backing plate has what looks like a very obvious mounting hole in the middle, just visible under the tape in the picture below, but if it were used it looks like it would make it difficult to use the spade connection for earth just below. Perhaps screwing it to the roof would provide a suitable earth meaning that a separate cable wouldn't be required? The older style interior lights did just clamp to the headlining Confused

The later type is indeed clamped and the back plate is earthed. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

I clamped it to roof lining and then screwed it to roof strut.
lifted my sagging lining well.
Just remember to remove the 10v fuse for interior lights and stereo first as the slightest bridge whilst fixing it will fuse it. "Of Course, Of course, I ain't asking . I'm telling!!"
