The one option I know of isn't cheap but you do get a whole host of other benefits:

If by 'clunk' - you mean "chacka chacka chacka" - then yes that's the EGR. If you really mean 'clunk', then it's likely something ain't right. Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |

That is normal EGR function, if you run some Millers diesel additive you may find it'll soften in ipits operating sound and possibly give it somewhat of a clean.
Mine is blanked and will never be an issue to me with an Alive stage 1 tune. It will cause you problems one day both in performance and putting the dash light on No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Mine's intermittently playing-up. It's OK just now but I am hardly using her as I'm tied-up with other things (semi-mothballed just now)
