If you fit a rusty part you will only pull it off later once you have bolted more bits to it tripling your time and effort just to clean and paint it, it may save you a few minutes to use an unrestored part but it will niggle you until you sort it out 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Great progress there Ian Agree with the engine " clean up "
Couldn't you respray all of the landy, with the Patina look, then you have the best of both worlds 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |

jobs for the weekend.....
Paint Bulkhead, fit pedal boxes. Clean and tart up/ fit engine. This week I've manage to rebuild both pedal boxes, Hellicoil new studs into the exhaust manifolds, I have decided to keep all the original paint, (for now!) I will go over it all with some G3 and a buffer, I'm only going to paint the replacement panels (for now!) I will see how it all comes up, then decide 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Please Please no paint I think this going to look awesome I know it's hard to get it right ,you can always paint it later but can't turn it back to original after painting.

don't worry I'm not painting it all! (Yet)
I've done two nice rebuilds in the last 4 years, So it's been nice not to worry too much about this one Plus when they are shiney, you tend to not want to get them dirty, or use them in anger! I do want this as a bit of a Greenlane toy 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. Last edited by ian series 1 on 26th Feb 2018 10:25am. Edited 1 time in total |
